Overview

Hyundai has launched the 2018 Creta facelift in the country at a starting price of Rs 9.43 lakh for the base petrol E variant. The new starting price is around Rs 14,000 more than the older version. In fact, the mid-life refresh of the best-selling compact SUV has breached the Rs 15 lakh mark for the first time as the range-topping diesel variant is now priced at Rs 15.03 lakh (ex-showroom). The compact SUV that made the entire automobile industry sit up and take notice has been given a facelift.

Exterior

In terms of design and styling, the front and rear-end get minor tweaks. There is a new cascading effect grille with a chrome surround and flanked by projector headlights. The LED DRLs have been moved from the headlights to the lower part of the bumper near the fog lamps housing. They have a C/D shape to them depending on the viewing angle and look quite cool. The design of the fog lamps has changed too. The bumper features wider airdams with a silver skid plate that extends upwards to form a bull-bar like design. At the sides, there are new 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels with a new design (only on the top-spec SX (O) trim), lower variants get 16-inch alloys or steel wheels.

Interior

Inside of the new SUV, with the outgoing model’s dashboard design remaining unchanged. However, Hyundai has upgraded the level of kit on each variant, and even the base E trim – which came with safety features like dual-front airbags and ABS – now gets its standard kit updated with driver’s seat height adjust and a front sliding armrest. In addition to features like 17-inch alloy wheels, projector headlamps, cruise control and the AVN infotainment system with an IPS display, the top-spec SX (O) also comes with a powered sunroof, six-way adjustable powered driver’s seat, a smart key band, wireless charging support and six airbags.

Engine Specification

The 2018 Hyundai Creta draws power from the same 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engines. The compact SUV is also available in a 1.4-litre diesel engine option. The 1.6-litre oil-burner puts out 128 PS of power and 260 Nm of torque while the 1.6-litre petrol produces 123 PS and 151 Nm. The 1.4-litre diesel makes 90 PS of power and 220 Nm of torque. Both the 1.6-litre petrol and diesel powertrains get a 6-speed manual as well as a 6-speed automatic transmission but the 1.4 diesel does the job with a 6-speed manual gearbox only.
