Hyundai has finally launched the much-awaited budget hatchback, the all-new 2018 Santro in India. The company said that the new small family car retains the iconic Tallboy design concept of the previous generation Santro. The 2018 Hyundai Santro is built on a new platform and comes with new design and styling, some best-in-segment features and better safety features. The new 2018 Hyundai Santro is available in both petrol and CNG fuel option. The new mid-range Magna and Sportz variants are also available with factory-fitted CNG kit and Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) options as well. The new 2018 Hyundai Santro comes in five variant options – Dlite, Era, Magna, Sportz and Asta.

2018 Hyundai Santro Specification:

The new 2018 Hyundai Santro is powered by an updated version of Hyundai’s Epsilon 1.1 litre engine. The 1,066cc, four-cylinder, three valves per cylinder motor is capable of producing 68 Bhp at 5500 rpm of power and 99 Nm at 4500 rpm of torque while running on petrol and 58 Bhp at 5500 rpm and 84.33 Nm at 4500 rpm of torque when fuelled by CNG. This engine is also being offered with a company fitted CNG kit. The 2018 Hyundai Santro petrol versions get 5-speed manual and the first time a five-speed automated manual transmission (AMT) gearboxes while the CNG models only get the former 5-speed manual gearbox.

The 2018 Hyundai Santro base D-Lite trim is quite sparse in terms of features, with only power steering, a folding rear bench and a remote opening boot and fuel lid on offer. The Era trim does get a segment-first in the form of rear AC vents. The top-spec trim features rear parking sensors with a reversing camera, a rear wash/wipe, a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Mirror Link compatibility, steering-mounted controls and power adjustable wing mirrors. In terms of safety features, all trims come equipped with a driver’s side airbag (the top-spec Asta gets a passenger side unit too), ABS with EBD and a driver’s seatbelt reminder. The CNG variants also get a fire extinguisher as standard.
