Maruti Suzuki India has launched the BS6-compliant WagonR 1.0-litre for an introductory price of Rs 4.42 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). One of the most popular vehicles of the country, Maruti Suzuki WagonR rivals the likes of Hyundai Santro and Tata Tiago.

Following the launch of the BS6-compliant petrol Baleno, Maruti has now included the new Wagon R 1.0 in its BS6 portfolio. The carmaker’s tallboy hatchback now comes with a BS6-compliant 1.0-litre petrol motor, with prices starting at Rs 4.42 lakh and going up to Rs 5.41 lakh, the BS6-spec model costs about Rs 8,000 more than the BS4 Wagon R 1.0. Mechanically, the BS6 Maruti BS6 Wagon R 1.0 is identical to the BS4 model and comes with the same 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT gearbox options. The upgrade to BS6-spec has seen the ARAI-rated fuel-efficiency figures drop by 0.71kpl, from 22.5kpl to 21.79kpl. Interestingly, this mileage figure is slightly more than the recently launched S-Presso’s 21.4-21.7kpl figure – Maruti’s newest model is powered by the same 68hp, 998cc, three-cylinder K10B petrol engine.
There are no changes so far as the features are concerned. Maruti Suzuki WagonR 1.0-litre BS6 comes with body-coloured door handles, bumpers and ORVMs; electrically adjustable ORVM and roof antenna. The cabin gets multifunction steering wheel with audio and voice controls, Smartplay Dock system, tilt steering and front and rear power windows.
