Comparison of Upcoming Kia Sonet vs Hyundai Venue Sub Metre SUV – Specifications, Price and Features

Kia, the Korean carmaker has had a strong start in our market, with its initial two offerings – the Seltos, which was well-received, and the Carnival MPV that was recently launched at the Auto Expo 2020. Its third offering – the Kia Sonet compact SUV – was also showcased at the Auto Expo 2020, though in concept form. We can now confirm that the production-spec Sonet will make its world premiere around mid-2020, with a market launch following it in August. The Kia Sonet shares its underpinnings with its distant cousin from Hyundai, the Venue. However, the carmaker has gone the distance to ensure the two SUVs will not be confused for one another. The Sonet receives bespoke exterior and interior styling to make it look more striking and curvaceous.

Kia Sonet vs Hyundai Venue – Design

Exterior:- From the outside, Kia’s compact SUV Sonet wears Kia’s signature ‘tiger nose’ grille with a mesh pattern and a pinched profile in the middle. Below this is the central air dam flanked by matte-silver fog lamp inserts and large air vents. Kia has decided to avoid going down the split headlamp route and has instead used sleek headlights with integrated LED DRLs merging into the grille. A high bonnet with muscular creases adds to the chunky look. Side profile of the Sonet is marked by large, dual-tone alloy wheels, wheel arches and window line. At the rear, the Kia Sonet looks radical,  especially with elements like a backward sloping C-pillar merging with a sharply raked rear windshield.

As for the Venue, it gets a completely different styling when compared to Sonet. The Venue gets a boxy-SUV, living on the conventional SUV styling. It gets sharper creases, chunky bumpers and an upright stance. As for the front of Venue, it shows off Hyundai’s latest design language with the huge cascading grille, dual-tone alloy wheels and split headlamp design.  However, the side of the Hyundai Venue looks more proportionately designed in comparison to that of Kia Sonet. At the rear, there are LED tail lamp with crystal effect which you will usually find on luxury cars.

Interior:- Inside of the Car, Kia Sonet continues the edgy styling in the cabin as well. Prime real estate on the dashboard is taken up by a large 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. When it goes into series production, expect the compact SUV to carry forward a smartly laid-out cabin loaded with equipment, including a Bose sound system, front ventilated seats and UVO connected car tech. Cabin room will likely be similar to the Venue’s, but down on class-best standards.

As for the Hyundai Venue interiors is concerned, the cabin features a five-seat configuration and packs in a host of features in tandem with other models in the segment. We get a leather plus fabric upholstery, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, steering mounted controls, air purifier, supervision cluster, and sliding centre armrest. The sound quality of the Arkamys sound system with 4 speakers and 2 tweeters is great and will keep the driver entertained on the go.
