Honda Activa, the scooter from a Japanese manufacturer has always been popular among the customers in India since its release some 16 years back. It is always getting much hype as a famous unisex scooter all due to these reasons: It is been in the market long enough for people to get familiarize with its name, it requires low maintenance, has got minimalistic looks, the engine is smooth and refined, this makes people believe that it’s a quality bike.
Honda Activa was a real game changer back then, when it was launched in India. Majority of the bikes available back then were geared bikes. Activa was automatic, it was much easier to ride. No hassle of changing gears and using clutch. It is also easy to learn to ride such 2-wheeler.
There have been many advancements in The Honda Activa since its release. New Honda Activa 4G was launched in mid of March 2017. It was upgraded in March 2017 with auto headlamp on (AHO) feature and a BS IV-compliant powertrain. Basically it is not much different from the earlier version Activa 3G, only a few minimal advancements have been made. The front center cover has been given a new look while Honda has equipped the same with mobile charging socket for added utility.
The Activa 4G features the same 110cc powerplant as the Activa 3G. However, it has been updated to clear BS-IV emission norms. The air-cooled single puts out 8PS @ 7500rpm and 8.83Nm of torque @ 5500rpm. Power is transmitted to the rear wheel via a CVT automatic gearbox. The curb weight of the new Activa 4G is 108kg. Honda quotes a top speed of 82kmph for the scooter.

Activa 4G was recently launched in India and the scooter now comes with AHO (All-time Headlight On) and BS4 compatibility, making it ready for the major change in emission as well as safety norms. Activa 4G is powered by a 109.19cc, single cylinder engine producing 8 BHP at 7500 rpm and 8.83 Nm at 5500 rpm. The engine comes mated to an automatic gearbox and carries the same set of features like tubeless tyres and CBS with Equalizer. Activa 4G now comes with a redesigned front center panel and adds a mobile phone charger to the feature list.
Hero Maestro Edge 110 comes as a sportier choice in the segment from Hero MotoCorp. Offering more styling it offers a 110.9cc engine which gives out a power of 8.31 bhp @ 8000 rpm and a torque of 8.30 nm @ 6500 rpm. Hero Maestro Edge 110 falls in the same segment as Honda Activa 4G and TVS Jupiter given its features and price range.
Fascino is the company's attempt to make a good impression in the gearless segment. The scooter stands out with its neo-design and chrome finish. Yamaha Fascino Blue Core comes with a newly designed air cooled 113cc engine giving a power of 7 bhp @ 7500 rpm and gives a torque of 8.1 nm @ 5000 rpm. It's the best foot forward by Yamaha, it faces close competition from Honda Activa 4G and TVS Jupiter.
Jupiter is the second highest selling automatic scooter second only to Honda Activa. It fits well in the mid range family segment and delivers on performance at an affordable price. TVS Jupiter has a 109.7cc engine which gives a power of 7.88 bhp @ 7500 rpm and a torque of 8 nm @ 5500 rpm. It is counted amongst the likes of Hero Maestro and Honda Activa 4G as a good offering in the segment.
