Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 Review:

The small car segment has been the most important segment in the Indian car market, since the time the first car of that size, M800, was introduced here. After 28 years, the M800 was completely replaced by the Alto 800. The Alto carried the M800 legacy ahead to become the highest selling car in India since its launch in 2012. The Alto 800 has received its mid-life update this year (2016) as a part of its product lifecycle.

The Exterior looks and style of the car are contemporary but still look a bit outdated if parked next to Hyundai Eon, Hyundai Santro and Chevrolet Spark. The front fascia of the car is marked by a twin grille and a pair of bulging headlights that smartly carry the turn indicators within them. The fog lights remain out of scene and clearly seem a loophole in the cost-cutting strategy of Maruti Suzuki. The box-shaped front part closely reminds you of Ford Figo. The side profile of the car is marked by an elegant shoulder-crease line that runs from the front end to the rear end and a pair of 12-inch well-sculpted twin rims that house 145/80 R12 tyres. The rear section of the car looks updated with a large windscreen underlined by a slightly bulging centre hump that carries a Suzuki logo and keyhole.

The interiors of the Alto 800 have been retained. The Alto 800 is a budget car and the interiors are basic to begin with. The dashboard is plain and dressed in a dark shade of grey with silver accents. The top spec car gets air-conditioning, power steering and front power windows. You also get a 1-DIN music system with two speakers in the front. Maruti has also started offering an optional driver airbag from the base variant for safety.

Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 Features:

The Alto 800 is an entry-level car and the feature list complements its positioning. The lowest variant STD does not get power steering or AC. The LX gets AC followed by the LXi which gets power steering too. Power windows feature only on the top spec VXi but on the front doors only. It gets dual tone interiors and fabric upholstery. To improve on the safety ratings, Maruti provides driver airbag as an option right from the base variant.
