Maruti Suzuki S-Presso Launched; Price Starts At Rs. 3.69 Lakhs. The S-Presso is available in 4 variants – Std, LXi, VXi and VXi+.

Maruti Suzuki has finally launched the S-Presso at an introductory price of Rs 3.69 lakh. The ‘micro SUV’ is available in two engine-gearbox combinations and four trim levels. The S-Presso is based on Suzuki’s Heartect platform, which also underpins models like the Swift, Dzire and Wagon R. The platform not only brings structural rigidity benefits that will help it meet the new crash test norms, but it also helps make the car light – it weighs just 726-767kg, depending on the variant. The launch of new S-Presso comes at a time when the sales of Maruti Suzuki India have been taking a hit month-after-month. The carmaker recently reported an eighth consecutive overall monthly sales decline during September 2019, with the numbers plunging 24.4 per cent to 1,22,640 units.

Maruti Suzuki S-Presso – Specification:

The S-Presso uses a BS6 compliant, 1.0-litre petrol engine coupled with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AGS. It produces 68 PS of power and 90 Nm of torque. This upgraded engine is also expected to find its way in the Wagon R, Alto K10 and Celerio in the coming months. The lower variants have an ARAI-certified mileage figure of 21.4 km/l while the higher VXi and VXi+ variants (in manual and AMT form) promise to return 21.7 km/l.

Maruti Suzuki S-Presso – Exterior:

The exterior of the Maruti S-Presso looks industrial with its upright stance and high bonnet line with some sporty touches. All this is highlighted by black bumpers, flared wheel arches and side claddings with a good ground clearance of 180 mm. Sadly, it gets wheel covers instead of proper alloys. The front gets a slightly tweaked grille similar to what we see on the Vitara Brezza. The turn indicators are mounted on the front fenders. The rear, however, is austere with nothing much going on, except an inserted skid-plate design in the bumper. 

Maruti Suzuki S-Presso – Interior: 

The interior seems to take some design elements from the Mini Cooper. It has a 7-inch SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system in the centre, afore which is the unusual instrument cluster. It comes with fabric upholstery and non-adjustable headrests. Similarly, to add more sportiness to the car, it has orange accents around the AC vents and running at the centre of the dashboard in a circular shape. It gets an all-black theme with colour-coded orange bits on the top-spec trim. With the parcel tray in, the S-Presso’s boot space is rated at 240 litres, though its removal adds another 30 litres of luggage carrying capacity.
