Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest carmaker, has launched the all-new Dzire sedan today at a starting price of Rs 5.45 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Into its third-generation, the Dzire is built on the same Heartect platform that also underpins the current-gen Baleno hatchback. While this platform is lighter than that on the outgoing model, it promises to be more rigid in its setup. As you’d expect, the upcoming Swift will also be built on the same platform.

Maruti Suzuki Dzire would carry the same set of powertrains – a 1.2-litre 4-cylinder K-Series petrol unit and 1.3-litre 4-cylinder DDiS 190 diesel mill. The former would produce maximum power of 82bhp and peak torque of 113Nm, while the latter would crank out 74bhp and 190Nm. Both the power units would be offered with a 5-speed manual transmission as standard, while a 5-speed AMT gearbox would be available from V trim onwards as optional. Based on the company’s new light-weight HEARTECT platform (same that underpins the Baleno), the sedan would be quite a fuel efficient product by the home grown automajor. The mileage figures for the petrol and diesel variants would be 22.00kmpl and 28.40kmpl (Both ARAI Specified), respectively.

Though the new model of the vehicle is smaller than the previous model it does have more of an aesthetic appeal than its predecessor. The design means less space in the boot which has a capacity of 316 litres. But due to the lighter weight of the body, new Swift DZire is more fuel efficient. Looking at the front of the vehicle you will note the similarities it has with the new Swift, with only a small change to the bumper. The front grille is finished with a black matte effect and features fog lamps that are round to create some sort of distinguishing feature so it is different from the Maruti Swift.

The interiors of the Maruti Swift DZire have an upmarket look, thanks to the beige and black interiors. The interior can best be described by the words irresistible, attractive and as a head turner that has the capability to attract potential buyers with just one look.
