Ever since its launch in 2005, Maruti Suzuki Swift has been ruling Indian roads. Evolved with fine designing and engineering, it has redefined the dynamics of the Indian automotive industry. It received some major changes in 2007, which further helped the car perform well in terms of sales. In 2011, this premium hatchback went through some ground breaking modifications, reflecting the comprehensive automotive research work of the engineering team. This time, the objective was to work on the loopholes of the previous version and cater to the new demand of the growing Indian automotive market.

Maruti Suzuki Swift Specifications:

The Swift carries the same engines which were used in its earlier models. The car offers two engines to choose from. One engine is powered by petrol and one by diesel. The petrol variant is powered by 1.2L K series engine with VVT. This engine produces enough peak power of 83.1 bhp coming at 6000 rpm. The maximum amount of torque available is of 115 Nm coming at 4000rpm. The 1.3DDIS diesel engine used in this car is borrowed from Fiat. This engine churns out a maximum power of 74 bhp at 4000 rpm with a maximum torque output of 190 Nm coming at 2000 rpm. Both engines in new Swift are mated to five- speed manual gearbox.

The Maruti Suzuki Swift in terms of external design remains the same as before but now gets a slightly redesigned bumper. Unfortunately the new L-shaped LEDs in the European model are not offered in the Indian market but we expect that they will begin offering it as a surprise option (at significant cost) sometime in 2015. The fog lamp housing is redesigned and gets a silver bezel around it. The Japanese automaker has also put out a new mysterious violet colour with the availability of other five standard colours. For non-alloy wheel versions, the wheel covers are different from the ones offered on the previous model.

The major changes are in the cabin of the Swift keeping it up-to-date with the technological features offered with most cars today. The interior of the Maruti Suzuki Swift facelift now features cruise control, keyless entry and a button start to keep it on par with the competitors. The top-spec versions of the car continue to get features like climate control, faux leather seats and a music system with Bluetooth, AUX and iPod compatibility, ABS and airbags as seen on the previous model.
