Tata Harrier launched in India with a starting price of Rs. 12.69 lakhs. The five-seat SUV is available in four variants – following the base Harrier XE are the mid-spec XM (Rs 13.75 lakh), XT (Rs 14.95 lakh) and the range-topping XZ (Rs 16.25 lakh). All prices are ex-showroom. Pricing is very aggressive and with prices closer to the Hyundai Creta than the Jeep Compass.
Tata Motors has launched its much-awaited SUV car, the Harrier in the country. Tata has spent a lot of effort on developing Harrier and the SUV does offer a compelling value proposition. The Harrier is underpinned by the same D8 platform that also used in Land Rover Discovery Sport. However, it isn’t offered on a 4WD and Tata has confirmed that it has no plans it in latter either. The Harrier was first shown as the H5X concept at the Delhi Auto Expo 2018. The Harrier retains the futuristic design of the H5X concept. The SUV is also bigger than the Hyundai Creta and Jeep Compass. Bookings for the Harrier have been open for the last two months, and deliveries are set to begin later this month.

Tata Harrier – Specifications:
Powering the Harrier is a Fiat-sourced 2.0-litre diesel engine that produces 140hp and 350Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox that transfers the power to the front wheels. A Hyundai-sourced automatic gearbox and a petrol engine will join the line-up at a later stage. Although Tata will not offer the Harrier with four-wheel drive, the SUV does get multiple off-road modes that can be selected via a circular knob on the centre console.

Tata Harrier – Exterior:
In terms of styling, Tata Harrier’s design inspired to the H5X concept already showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo. Tata stuck to the basics, by making it longer and wider. Thanks to the lower height, the Harrier has a purposeful, squat stance. The gently sloping roofline, flared wheel arches and the high-set bonnet makes sure that it looks the business. To ensure it means it, though, there are some questionably bold design choices. The placement of the head lamps might seem odd at first, but it gives the Harrier a unique and unmistakable identity. The sloping down roof line gives it the air of sportiness, modernity and style. It looks less like an SUV and more like a sporty, tall hatch from the rear, that is a wonderfull combination to be hold.
Tata Harrier – Interior:
The interiors of the Harrier are upmarket and come with black and brown theme. There are a lot of high-quality bits on offer here like the knurled finished knobs to control the volume. The oak-brown faux wood looks premium and the quality of plastics is amongst the best we have seen on a Tata product. The top-spec variant also gets an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system on the centre console which supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other features on offer include 9 speakers JBL audio system, auto headlamps, auto wipers, keyless entry with push-button start/stop, rear AC vents, auto climate control, puddle lamps with logo projection, etc.
