TVS Motors has launched its first fully-faired, small super-sports model bike, the new Apache RR 310 in India. Popularly known as the TVS Akula, the new Apache RR 310 comes with a single cylinder, fuel-injected 310cc engine. The bike is powered by a BMW engine, TVS has launched their first ever production motorcycle which in the 200+ cc segment. The new TVS Apache RR 310 becomes the first-ever motorcycle that is related to the BMW Motorrad. We say this as the motorcycle shares a lot with the G310R. While the latter will also launch in India, the TVS motorcycle has its own unique identity due to the very racy looks and a sportier nature.

Design and Features:

In terms of design, the RR 310 retains the Akula concept’s silhouette but is less aggressively styled. The bi-LED projector headlight is integrated into the front fairing which gets a blacked-out beak. There’s also tricolour detailing at the front which doesn’t look out of place. TVS claims the design is functional having undergone 300 hours worth of wind tunnel testing.

The bike also got Air Filter on top which make is very unique and latest in all bikes. the Apache RR 310 is the first Indian motorcycle with a reverse inclined engine (till now we’ve seen motorcycles with forward inclined engines). The advantages of reverse inclined engines are one, much better performance when compared to forward inclined engines.

TVS Apache RR 310 is powered by a 312.2cc, single-cylinder, DOHC motor that makes 33 Bhp at 9700 rpm and 27.3 Nm at 7700 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The trellis frame is suspended on inverted forks up front and a monoshock at the rear. For braking, the Apache RR 310 employs a 300mm petal disc at the front and a 240mm petal disc at the rear. TVS offers dual-channel ABS as standard too. TVS claims 0-60 km/hr sprint in just 2.93 seconds while 0-100 km/hr comes up in a claimed 7.17 seconds. The motorcycle tips the scales at 169.5 kg.
