Auto Expo 2018: UM Motorcycles Renegade Thor Electric Cruiser Launched In India At Rs 4.9 Lakh. The Renegade Thor is the world’s first electric cruiser and also the first electric offering from the stable of the American brand. The overall design of the Thor is similar to other UM cruisers.
Design and Features
The styling of the UM Thor is typical of any electric cruiser bike with large dimensions, with typically flowing lines and an abundance of chrome. While it looks impressive, the UM Renegade features typical cruiser style design elements such as wide handlebars, flowing tank, low slung seat, front set foot pegs and a lot of chrome detailing. The digital instrument cluster is placed on the tank which is likely to be used to fill the coolant.
Key Features:
The Thor features 280/240mm (front/rear) disc brakes with a dual-channel ABS as standard. In due course, a variant with a TFT screen and Bluetooth connectivity will be offered as well. Suspension duties are handled by a 41mm telescopic fork and a twin shock absorber setup. The Thor is shod with a 120/80-17 tyre at the front and a 150/90-15 tyre at the rear, with alloy wheels as standard as well.
Engine
The Thor is powered by a 30kW motor that churns out around 70Nm. It gets a five-speed gearbox and liquid cooling on cooler and battery management system. The UM Renegade Thor delivers a riding range of 270km on a single charge. Thanks to the fast charging feature, 80 percent of the battery can be charged in just 40 minutes. The Renegade Thor electric bike can hit a top speed of 180km/h. With the decent range, the electric cruiser will be an ideal motorcycle for daily commuting and weekend rides.
The UM Renegade Thor is also equipped with a hydraulic clutch and liquid-cooled motor with a controller. Another interesting feature of the Thor electric cruiser is the addition of reverse gear for easy manoeuvring. Overall, the Renegade Thor sports a solid package and will be a fierce competitor to the conventional cruisers in the market.
