Volkswagen has launched the new T-Roc, its second SUV in 2020, priced at Rs 19.99 lakh (introductory, ex-showroom, pan-India). Imported as a CBU, the T-Roc sits under the Tiguan All space but will sit above the upcoming Taigun SUV that is due next year. As with the Tiguan All space, the T-Roc is being brought into India under the 2,500 cars import rule. Deliveries for the Volkswagen T-Roc will begin mid-April 2020.
Skoda Karoq, launched last month in India, marks the Czech carmaker’s entry in the compact SUV segment years after it pulled the plug on Yeti. But as opposed to Yeti, the Karoq is positioned as a more premium SUV and is available in a single, top-spec variant. If you are planning to buy the Karoq, then you will have to spend ₹25 lakh (ex-showroom).
2020 Volkswagen T-roc vs Skoda Karoq – Design
Exterior:- Skoda Karoq is a compact SUV and the spiritual successor to the Skoda Yeti that was sold in India but struggled due to its crossover genes. The Skoda Karoq belongs to the same class as the VW Tiguan, Hyundai Tucson, Jeep Compass and Tata Harrier. The Skoda Karoq looks almost like a mini-Skoda Kodiaq. It comes equipped with features like full LED headlamps, LED fog lamps with cornering function, C-shaped LED tail lamps, roof rails, 18-inch Trinity alloy wheels and body cladding all around on the outside.
Showcased at Auto Expo 2020 in February, the T-Roc looks distinctive with its broad shoulders, large wheel arches, sloping rear windscreen, and rectangular LED elements that sit below the headlamps. VW offers five dual-tone colour options – Curcuma Yellow, Energetic Orange, Indium Grey, Ravenna Blue and Pure White, all with a black roof. The T-Roc is also available in a Deep Black Pearl exterior finish. The T-roc looks like a mini-Tiguan, which isn’t anything bad as there are many who are found of the clean surfaces and crisp creases of the premium SUV.
Interior:- Inside the car, The interior of the Skoda Karoq also seeks inspiration from the bigger model Skoda Kodiaq, which is evident from the design of the dashboard and centre console. Finished in dual-tone black and beige theme, the interior is equipped with features like a fully digital instrument console, 9.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 12-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat, dual-zone automatic climate control, push-button start with keyless entry, leather upholstery, rear AC vents and a panoramic sunroof.
The VW T-Roc, In comparison, the Karoq is a tad bigger as it measures. Hence, it’s clear that the Czech SUV is a tad larger than its German sibling. Available in a single fully-loaded trim, Volkswagen has packed in a fair bit of equipment in the T-Roc. The kit includes an 8.0-inch touchscreen (that is Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatible), full-LED headlamps and tail-lamps, dual-tone alloy wheels, front and rear parking sensors, a digital instrument cluster, dual-zone automatic climate control, a panoramic sunroof and ‘Vienna’ leather seats.
