Volkswagen Tiguan to be launched in India tomorrow.

Volkswagen is set to launch the much-awaited Tiguan in India tomorrow. The second-generation Tiguan was showcased at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show and it marks the re-entry of the German giant in the trending SUV segment in India. The Tiguan will be the new flagship vehicle for the German automaker in the Indian market.

First showcased at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo, the Tiguan is the first of the VW’s SUV offensive to make its way to India. It is based on the versatile MQB platform, sharing it with the likes of Audi A4, Skoda Superb and Octavia, along with the upcoming VW Passat and the Skoda Kodiaq. Volkswagen has been carrying out an extensive test on the five-seater SUV to suit the Indian conditions. The car was spotted testing in India on multiple occasions.

The Tiguan will be offered in two variants – Comfortline and Highline. The Comfortline will get standard features such as three-zone automatic air-conditioning with rear controls, electrically adjustable front seats with driver memory function, automatic headlamp and cruise control. On the other hand, the Highline spec gets bigger alloy wheels, push button start, panoramic sunroof and ambient lighting. The Tiguan will be powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder TDI engine from the recently launched A4 35TDI, mated to a seven-speed DSG transmission. A 2.0-litre gasoline option is also on the cards, but that will follow later.
