1. Maruti Suzuki WagonR

Maruti’s popular hatchback WagonR has consistently been the number one choice of Indian customers for the past few months. With sales of 19,190 units last month, WagonR sales surpassed 16,814 units in May. In fact, WagonR sales have almost reached the same level as compared to June 2021 when the carmaker sold 19,447 units.

2. Maruti Suzuki Swift

Last month, the Swift hatchback managed to overtake the Tata Nexon by the second spot after returning to the top-10 list sometime in May. Maruti sold 16,213 units of Swift last month. This has increased by about 2,000 units as compared to May this year. However, in June last year, Maruti sold more Swifts than the previous month. Despite the challenges of Covid, Maruti had sold 17,227 units of Swift during the same month last year.

3. Maruti Suzuki Baleno

The new generation model of the Maruti Baleno has managed to beat the Tata Nexon with 16,103 units sold in June. Now the sales figures of Baleno, which is at number three, have increased significantly. Whereas in May it sold 13,970 units. Maruti has also sold over 1,400 units in the last month as compared to the sales figures in June last year. Earlier this year, Maruti launched the new Baleno with a host of new features and technology updates.

4. Tata Nexon

Tata Nexon, the popular sub-compact SUV from Tata Motors, remains India’s number one SUV in June. However, there has been a slight decline in its sales as compared to May this year. Last month, Tata sold 14,295 units of the Nexon, as against 14,614 units sold in May. However, compared to June last year, when Tata sold just 8,033 units, the sales of the Nexon increased significantly.

5. Hyundai Creta

Hyundai’s flagship compact SUV Creta remains firmly at number five. The Korean carmaker sold 13,790 units of the SUV in June as compared to 10,973 units sold in May. The sales of the Hyundai Creta have increased significantly as compared to June last year when the carmaker had sold just 9,941 units. Creta is the best selling car in the compact SUV segment in India.

6. Maruti Alto

Maruti is going to launch the new facelift version of its entry level hatchback car Alto later this year. But the current model of Maruti Alto still remains a favorite option among the buyers. Maruti sold as many Alto cars as Hyundai Creta last month. Sales have increased by more than 850 units since May this year. In June last year, Maruti sold 12,513 units of the Alto, which reflects the small hatchback’s steady performance over the years.

The Maruti Dzire remains the only subcompact sedan to feature in the list of top 10 cars sold every month in India. Maruti sold 12,597 units of the DZire last month, up from 11,603 units sold in May. The company is also going to bring its facelift model soon. The DZire continues to be one of the best performing cars from Maruti. In June last year, Maruti Dzire sold 12,639 units across the country.

The new generation Ertiga has been suffering due to long waiting period since its launch in April. Its sales have dropped significantly since its launch. In June, Maruti sold 10,423 units of the Ertiga, down from 12,226 units sold in the month of May. It sold 14,889 units in the month of launch this year.
