BMW i4 electric car launch: Premium and luxury car maker BMW on Thursday launched its electric car BMW i4 Electric in India. The company has introduced it at an ex-showroom price of ₹ 69.90 lakh. This car in the sedan segment travels 590 km on a full charge once. The company says that this is the first mid-size sedan in the country to be fully electric.
The company has opened the booking of this mid-size sedan car. You can make pre-booking by visiting the official website. The company will start the delivery of BMW i4 in July 2022. The company has launched this third electric car in India in the last 180 days. The BMW i4 electric car will compete directly with the Audi e-tron GT and Porsche Taycan in the Indian market.
Riding Range and Speed:
According to the WLTP cycle, the BMW i4 can cover a distance of around 590 km on full charge. The electric motor given in the electric sedan can generate power up to a maximum of 335 bhp. This car can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in about 5.7 seconds with a top speed of 190 kmph.
Charging Technology:
This car is equipped with a battery pack of 80.7 kW. It travels up to 590 km in full charge. This range is more than the range of any electric car in India. BMW claims that the i4 can charge at rates of up to 205kW, which can add 164kmrs of range in just 10 minutes. Apart from, the car battery gets charged from 10 percent to 80 percent in just 31 minutes. BMW is offering the 11kw wall box AC charger which charges the car from 0 to 100% in 8 hours.
BMW i4 Electric Sedan Battery Specifications:
In terms of battery range, the eDrive 40 variant of the BMW i4 comes with a powerful battery of 83.9 kWh. This battery pack enables the electric motor to generate 335 bhp power and 430 Nm peak torque. The company claims that the BMW i4 can give a range of 590 km on a single charge and for charging the i4 gets an AC charger at 11 kW, which can fully charge the battery in 8 hours.

BMW i4 Design:
Exterior
In terms of exterior look and design, the new BMW i4 electric car looks similar to the internal combustion engine (ICE) version of the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe car. Based on BMW’s CLAR architecture, the BMW i4 is a modified all-electric version of the 4-Series Gran Coupe. The styling of the new electric luxury sedan is very similar to that of the Gran Coupe. It gets the automakers signature kidney shaped front grille like other models of the time. Being an electric car, it gets a body plate instead of a mesh grill. At the front, there are sleek Corona LED headlamps with integrated LED daytime running lights.
Interior
Coming to the interior and cabin of the BMW i4, the most notable feature is the brand’s curved dual-screen display with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system. In this, BMW’s latest Drive 8 user interface has been given. The company provides OTA software updates for this digital infotainment system. Other features include wireless charging, automatic climate control, electronic front seats with cooling function, electric sunroof and many other connected car features.
