Hyundai i20 Active Overview

Hyundai India, the country’s second largest carmaker, launched its first crossover – the i20 Active – in India on 17^th March 2015. The crossover is based on the new-generation i20 aka Elite i20. It looks sportier and more rugged than its hatchback sibling. Hyundai i20 Active, a premium crossover car has been upgraded recently to boot their sales figures. The i20 Active received the last update in 2015 and now the facelift version of the crossover has been unveiled in the international markets. The car gets some minor cosmetic updates with some added features. However, the car does not look totally different than the current variant.

Hyundai i20 Active Specification

The crossover is available in both petrol and diesel fuel option. The petrol version is powered with a 1.2-litre Kappa engine that develops a maximum power of 82bhp at 600rpm with a torque of 115Nm at 4000rpm. The diesel variant derives its power from the 2^nd-gen 1.4-litre engine that churns out a maximum power of 88.76bhp, while yielding a torque of 219.7Nm between 1500rpm – 2750rpm. Both the powertrains are mated with a 6-speed manual gearbox.

Hyundai i20 Active Exterior

The i20 Active looks very similar to the Hyundai Elite i20, the car it is based on. Changes up front include projector headlamps with daytime running lights, a new grille, new bumper and revised fog lamps. The car also gets matt black cladding and a silver skid plate. The side profile of the i20 Active is rather interesting. The roof rails, side cladding and different shaped alloy wheels distinguish the Active from the Elite i20. Bumpers of the i20 Active are completely different as compared to the normal i20 – they get black cladding and silver skid plates at both the ends. Tail lamps of the Hyundai i20 Active are based on the Elite i20 and look beautiful.

Inside the Car, Hyundai has borrowed the new instrument panel with gear shift indicator and three-spoke steering wheel with integrated autio and Bluetooth controls from the hatchback. The layout is the same, but the company has differentiated the interior with a sporty look. Like the feature-rich i20 hatchback, the i20 Active is packed with many features like height adjustable driver’s seat, cooled glove-box, 2-Din audio system with 1 GB internal memory, climate control system, cruise control, a second power outlet, reverse parking assist, clutch lock etc. The interior looks funky with colour-coded pinstripe and dashboard accents. Two dual=shade interior options. Other changes to the interior include new upholstery, aluminium-coated pedals and partly coloured gear-knob.
