Hyundai Xcent Overview

The Hyundai Xcent is an A-segment sedan by Hyundai Motor Company. Based on the Hyundai Grand i10, the Xcent is manufactured by Hyundai Motor India Limited in Chennai, It made its debut on February 4, 2014, three days ahead of its world premier at the Auto Expo 2014. Like the Grand i10, the Xcent is available with two engine options. In 2017 Hyundai Xcent gets entirely new styling along with added equipment. The 2017 Hyundai Xcent has taken inspiration from Hyundai bigger sedans, the Verna and the Elantra.

Where the petrol motor is buttery smooth, the diesel is equally gutsy. Both motors are 1.2-litre units, but while the petrol produces 83PS/114Nm, the diesel generates 75PS/190Nm. A 4-speed automatic or a 5-speed manual transmission is offered with the petrol engine. The diesel, on the other hand, is available only with a 5-speed manual gearbox. No points for guessing, it is the diesel that’s more frugal of the two. Its ARAI figure is rated at 25.4kmpl, compared to the 20.14kmpl for the petrol engine.

2017 Xcent’s exterior styling is based on Hyundai’s 2.0 Fluidic Sculpture design philosophy. It gets a large hexagonal radiator grille and a wide air dam on the lower part of the front bumper which also houses the new signature LED daytime running lamps. The headlamp design is almost the same as before and resembles the new Hyundai Grand i10 which also has been updated recently. Since it is the same body shell, the profile looks exactly identical to the older car but the all-new tail design would remind you of anything but not the old Xcent. The side profile remains the same with the Pull type Chrome door handles and ORVMs with turn indicators, while the rear end features new two piece wrap around tail lamps, dual tone bumper, and Shark Fin Antenna (first-in-segment).  

Hyundai Xcent Interior

The interior cabin of 2017 Hyundai Xcent is finished in dual-tone Black and Beige upholstery with Blue illumination. Though, most of the features seen on the pre-facelift model such as adjustable rear headrests, rear seat centre armrest with cup holders, leather wrapped steering wheel, fully automatic temperature control, tachometer, multi-information display with digital clock and tripmeter, electric power steering, front and rear power outlets, rear A/C vents, cooled glovebox. For safety, the Xcent gets ABS and EBD with dual front airbags along with features like central locking and engine immobiliser.
