The Indian Chief is a motorcycle that was built by the Hendee Manufacturing Company and the subsequent Indian Motocycle Company from 1922 to the end of the company’s production in 1953. The Chief was Indian’s “big twin”, a larger, more powerful motorcycle than the more agile Scout used in competition and sport riding. When Indian resumed civilian production after World War II, they revived only the Chief line. Production of Indian motorcycles ended with the last Chief made in 1953.
Indian Chieftain Dark Horse Overview : The Chieftain Dark Horse is the only faired cruiser from the iconic Indian Motorcycles and is also the most expensive in its line-up. It gets stylish, elegant fenders which have been seen since 1940 in all Indian Motorcycles along with the traditional big ‘Indian’ badging on the fuel tank. The Indian Chieftain Dark Horse is a heavyweight touring bike from Indian Motorcycles. The bike is based on the Chief platform, the Chieftain Dark Horse adopts dark undertones which give it a sinister look. The fuel tank, chassis, engine, forks, fenders and the fairing are painted in matte black, and only a few bits like the exhaust and wheels are finished in chrome.
