After the huge success of the 3-door version of the Thar, Mahindra is now moving towards bringing its 5-door version. The launch date of the 5-door Thar is yet to be known. But, looking at the test mule of the 5-door version of the Thar, it is speculated that it can be launched next year. After launch, this Force will compete with the Gurkha-5 door version as well as the Maruti Jimny 5-door version. Both these SUVs can also be available for sale by next year. Out of these three, the Gurkha-5 door can be launched first. The Thar 5-door version will be based on the 3-door version of the Thar. However, the frame chassis has been slightly updated. The chassis has been substantially extended to add two more doors.

However, the new Thar 5-door will lose some of its off-road capabilities due to its extended wheelbase. It will have a slightly less impressive ramp-over angle. If the 3-door version also continues to sell together, then true off-road lifestyle enthusiasts may prefer the 3-door version only. The 2023 Mahindra Thar 5-door may get 3-row seating. But, the seat layout has not been disclosed by Mahindra yet. The Thar 5-door version may come with either six or seven seating configurations.

Mahindra Thar 5 Door is one of the most anticipated SUVs in recent times. Testing of the long wheelbase version of Thar is currently underway. We have been seeing test mules of the 5-door SUV for a long time now.

5 Door Mahindra Thar – Launch Date:

There were speculations that the bigger Thar would be launched in 2023. However, a top company official has confirmed that the Mahindra Thar 5 door will be launched next year in 2024.

5 Door Mahindra Thar – Engine Specifications:

Talking about the engine and power of the 5-door Mahindra Thar, like the current 3-door model of this swanky SUV, it will be seen with 2.0 liter mStallion turbo petrol and 2.2 liter mHawk turbo diesel engine, which will produce 152 bhp and 320 Newton power respectively. Along with meter torque, it will generate 132 bhp power and 320 Newton meter torque. Mahindra Thar 5 door will get 6 speed manual and 6 speed torque converter automatic transmission. The rest will also have a 4X4 drivetrain. The Thar 5 door option will get wider tyres, lighter steering wheels and better suspension setup.

Talking about exteriors, It is unclear whether the Thar 5-door will get the same split tailgate design as the 3-door variant or a slightly more practical design. The feature list of the Thar 5-door version will be mostly similar to that of the 3-door version. However, it will get more features than the current model. It can also be given a sunroof. When launched, the 5-door Thar could be costlier by Rs 1 lakh to Rs 1.5 lakh as compared to the current 3-door version.

From the inside, According to media reports, Mahindra Thar 5 will get more cabin space and boot space as well as luxurious interiors and exteriors. On the other hand, in terms of features, it will get standard 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple Car Play support as well as wireless charging, roof mounted speakers, automatic AC, multi-functional steering wheel and Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS).
