Tadpole Projects startup is behind this operation, this startup has been incubated under IIT-Delhi. Maruti Gypsy Electric Conversion Kit

Tadpole Projects is a startup that provides smooth driving experience. Four battery pack options are given on its website. These options are as follows:-

Two 48V electric vehicle architectures, with one 1440 Wh module and one 1536 Wh module.

There is also a 60V architecture with 1920 Wh modules and a 72V architecture with 8640 Wh modules.

All these battery modules come with IP65/67 rating making them resistant to external dust, dirt and water. They also have short circuit, overcharge and under-discharge protection which further adds to their safety. Along with this, there is also an option of EV kit up to 30 kW and smart BMS for 1 kW to 37 kW (49.6 bhp) electric motors. It takes 2 to 6 hours to charge them.

How to Convert to Electric Vehicle ?

The process involves replacing engine components, finding a better location for the battery, battery setup and adding an electric motor to the existing drivetrain. This is a great way to extend the life of old and unusable ICE vehicles. If you have any emotional feelings attached to a vehicle, then instead of scrapping it, it can be converted into an electric vehicle. Apart from increasing their lifespan by converting old vehicles into EVs, they can also be used as vintage cars.

When Maruti Gypsy was Launched ?

Maruti Gypsy has a very old association with the Indian Army, this SUV has been in the service of the army for a long time. The company introduced Maruti Gypsy for the first time in December 1985, at that time this SUV was launched in the Indian market with the 970 cc F10A Suzuki engine. Initially, it was only available as a soft-top, but was offered with a hardtop after aftermarket hardtops became popular. The company officially stopped its production in the year 2018.

Exterior Design

No changes have been made to the basic design of this electric Gyspy, although the ‘EV’ badging and the Indian Army logo have been given on the body of the SUV.

Warranty:-

The converted electric vehicle comes with two years warranty on motor, three years on battery and five years warranty which can be extended for 5-7 years. In this case, it serves to put an old vehicle to good use.
