Maruti Suzuki 5-door has launched the Jimny SUV in India at a starting price of Rs 12.74 lakh (ex-showroom). The top variant of the car is available at a price of Rs 15.05 lakh (ex-showroom). The main rival of the Maruti Suzuki Jimny is the Mahindra Thar SUV. In addition, it will also face competition from the Force Gurkha in the four wheel drive (4WD) segment.
On the second day of Auto Expo-2023 (January 12), Maruti introduced Jimny for the first time in the Indian market with 7 color options and Alpha-Zeta 2 variants. However, the Jimny has been present in the international market for quite some time now. Along with the launch, its booking was also started. In the global market, the car is sold in a three-door version.

Maruti is offering 4WD and 5-door as standard across both the variants Zeta and Alpha that are available in both manual and automatic transmissions. For a dual tone shade (black roof) you need to shell out Rs. 16,000/- more. Compared to the petrol 4WD variants of the Mahindra Thar, the Maruti Jimny is around Rs. 1 lakh less expensive. However, the target audience of both the cars is a little different.
Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door SUV: Engine Specifications
The Jimny SUV gets the older 1.5-litre 4-cylinder K-series naturally aspirated petrol engine instead of the K-15C mill found on newer Maruti vehicles, which makes 104 bhp at 6,000 RPM and 134 Nm of peak torque at 4,000 RPM makes. This engine is tuned with 5-speed manual transmission and 4-speed automatic transmission. The SUV also gets the option of All Grip Pro 4×4 system for better off-roading performance.

The front fascia of the rendered Maruti Jimny looks more rugged than its 3-door version. The SUV carries a black body guard on the radiator grille and the round fog lamps have been replaced with sleek strips. The vehicle also gets a revised bonnet. The 5-door Jimny will be based on a longer wheelbase than the 3-door model and have more cabin space to offer. The bigger Jimny has a C-pillar along with revised rear bumper and taillamps. The tailgate mounted spare wheel has also been removed. From the Inside, The new Jimny’s cabin is way modern and feature-loaded than the previous model. It gets all-black interior scheme with modern features like a SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
