Morris Garages Motor India MG launched its electric car Comet on Wednesday. Its price starts from Rs 7.98 lakh. This is MG’s cheapest, smallest and entry level electric car. It is about 50 thousand rupees cheaper than Tata’s Tiago EV. Its production has started at the Halol plant in Gujarat. This is MG’s second EV after the MG ZS EV. This car will compete with Tiago EV and Citoren eC3.
Its booking is starting from 15th May. Its delivery will also start from May itself. The EV will get a range of 230 km in full charge. The company claims that this car will run for 1000 kilometers for Rs 519. Next level personalization has been given in this. That means you will be able to apply company made funky body wraps, cool stickers on the car.

The car has a foldable split seat configuration. That is, you can increase the boot space. At the same time, the company has launched it in 5 color options Apple Green with Black Roof, Aurora Silver, Starry Black, Candy White and Candy White with Black Roof. Two doors have been given in the EV and its seating capacity is 4 people.
20.5-inch Integrated Floating Wide Screen
The car gets an integrated floating wide screen, which includes a 10.25-inch head unit and a 10.25-inch digital cluster. A floating unit will be found near the dashboard. MG Motor is calling it the ‘Intelligent Tech Dashboard’.
At the same time, AC vents will be found in horizontal position below the screen. The new electric car also gets rotary air-conditioning controls with chrome highlights. Apart from this, the Comet will get connected car technology, keyless entry, drive mode and many high-end features.
Compete with Tata Tiago EV
MG Motor has prepared this car to drive in congested areas. This car will compete with Tata’s Tiago EV which was launched last year. Tata launched the Tiago at an initial price of 8.49 lakhs. MG Comet price starts from Rs.7.98 Lakh. Means it is about 50000 rupees cheaper than Tiago.
MG Comet EV: Battery & Range
MG has equipped the Comet EV with a 17.3kWh battery that is IP67-rated for water and dust resistance and gets an ARAI-certified range of 230km. MG is also offering a 3.3kW on board charger that takes seven hours to fully charge the battery. The Comet gets a single electric motor developing 42hp and 110Nm of torque, sending power to the rear wheels through an automatic gearbox.

MG Comet EV Design:
Exterior
MG has tried to give the Comet a tallboy design. It will also get LED headlamps, MG logo, daytime running lamps at the front, LED tail lights at the rear, chrome door handles, front and rear parking cameras. The EV has 12-inch aerodynamic design wheels.
Interior
The electric car will come with steering mounted controls. It has two control sets on both sides. These controllers are inspired by the Apple iPod. With this, there are options to control features like audio, navigation, infotainment voice commands.
