Tata Bolt Overview

The Tata Bolt is the Pune-based automaker’s new hatchback for the Indian market. Based on their X1 platform which underpins the Indica Vista hatchback, the Bolt too features an all too familiar silhouette but is a whole new animal in terms of features and overall design philosophy. It was unveiled at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo and is Tata’s first launch for 2015 in the Indian automobile market. The styling of the Bolt is neat and tidy. The car has sufficient poise and has sharp features to have a cut above the rest of the hatchbacks. 

Tata Bolt Specifications

The model comes with both options in petrol and diesel engines. The Revotron 1.2-litre turbocharged Multi-point Fuel Injection (MPFI) petrol mill produces 90 bhp and a torque output of 140 Nm. Three multi-drive options are available that are Eco, Sport and City modes. The diesel model utilises a Quadrajet 1.3-litre engine, which generates 75 bhp power and a torque output of 190 Nm. Five-speed manual transmission system is offered on both the models.

Bolt is an interesting addition to the three aspects of Tata’s new innovation – ConnectNext, DriveNext and DesignNext. The aspects include bolstering the look, appearance and connectivity of the car. It has been said that the attractive features and the renewed design elements will attract the Indian youth. The silhouette of the car initially gives the impression and totally new. Sporting a completely new grille, the car comes with revised headlights with projectors, a revamped bumper. The windows accentuate in a curve towards the rear of the hatchback. Rounded edges have been imparted to the rear side of the model, which give it a premium look.

Inside the Car, the biggest leap from the Tata’s of old has been in the interiors where Tata has clearly taken the segment by surprise by providing a decent cabin for the driver and the occupants. The Dials are simple but combined with a dark console, they look elegant and sporty. he car manufacturer had recently associated with MapMyIndia, which enables the utilisation of GPS navigation technology in the Bolt hatch model. This allows drivers to synchronise their smartphones to the head unit with the Bolt. Apart from this fact, the top-of-the-line variants of the Bolt are equipped with Harman infotainment system, which also might attract the youth.
