Tata Safari STORME Overview

Tata Safari has been India’s favourite SUV since it was first launched way back in 1998. The vehicle was able to hold strong to its ground for a long time until recently when the sales started to go down due to the introduction of new competition in the market. Tata is continuously trying to regain Safari’s lost charm with makeovers and facelifts but it looks like that it is time we see a new vehicle in order to replace and carry forward Safari’s legacy. But after Tata went through JLR deal and had access to their world class Research and Development facility, they came out with a new fully redesigned and Face lifted version of their ongoing monster called TATA Safari STORME.

Tata Safari STORME Specifications

The current models of the Tata Safari Storme are powered by the 2.2-litre VariCOR diesel engine that produces 140bhp of power. The power output of this mill might be increased to 150bhp of power and 320Nm of torque like the Tata Aria. The motor will continue to be mated to the existing five-speed manual transmission.

Tata Safari STORME Exterior

The design of Safari Storme has received some significant updates, while its structure remains identical to the erstwhile model. The radiator grille has got refinements, which has been inspired from the design of Jaguar Land Rover. The moniker of Tata Motors is placed at the centre of this grille. The headlamp cluster gets new projector lights with ‘Polly Ellopsoid System’, which sets it apart from the earlier version. Similar to the upper grille, the air dam at the front bumper also received a new design. Except these changes, all other aspects of the front fascia remain identical to the outgoing model.

The cabin of the Tata Safari Storme features an all-black colour scheme save for the silver highlights on the dashboard, steering wheel and door panels. The cabin features an overall elegant look with good material quality. The centre console accommodates standard multimedia system which along with the controls for the air con unit is surrounded by a chrome fitting. The steering wheel bears a similar look to the one that we see on the Bolt and Zest. The central row is generously spacious with decent amount of leg and headroom. Things on the other hand are not as good for the 3^rd row passengers as the bench seats are only suitable for small children.
