Post the unveil of the V4 ‘Desmosedici Stradale’ engine, Ducati has launched the SuperSport range of bikes in India. The SuperSport range comprises of the SuperSport and SuperSport S priced at Rs. 12.08 lakhs and Rs. 13.39 lakhs respectively (both prices, ex-showroom, Delhi).

Both the SuperSport and the SuperSport S come equipped with the same chassis, engine and body parts, but the SuperSport with the S moniker gets some extra equipment. Design-wise, the SuperSport resembles a Panigale especially with those headlights with LED DRLs. The rear-view mirrors on the fairing house the turn indicators. The SuperSport sits on a trellis frame that is directly fixed to the cylinder heads and engine itself. There is also a tubular sub-frame. The rear-end will remind you of the Monster.

Powering the Ducati SuperSport and SuperSport S is a 937cc, Testastretta, 11°, L-twin engine that produces 110 BHP at 9000 RPM and 93 Nm at 6500 RPM. This engine comes matched to a 6-speed gearbox with Ducati Quick Shift (only in the Super Sport S). Now, what does the Ducati Quick Shift do? It’s an electronic system that lets the rider upshift and downshift without having to use the clutch and also without having to close the throttle to move up a gear.

Other electronics on the SuperSport range includes 3 riding modes – Sport, Touring and Urban, ABS, Ducati Traction Control, ride-by-wire, slipper clutch and a full-LCD display.

The Ducati SuperSport uses fully adjustable 43 mm Marzocchi forks up front and Sachs adjustable monoshock at the rear, while the SuperSport S gets an upgraded fully adjustable 48 mm Ohlins forks up front and Ohlins adjustable monoshock at the rear. Braking on both the SuperSport and SuperSport S is via 320 mm twin discs with Brembo calipers at the front and a 245 mm single disc at the rear.

Both the bikes use Pirelli Diablo Rosso III tyres on the 17-inch, Y-shaped, 3-spoke light alloy wheels. These alloy wheels are shod with 120-section tyre at the front and 180-section tyre at the rear.
