In India, In the last few years, the trend of electric cars has increased. Electric vehicles have also got a boost due to subsidies from the central and state governments. Along with this, people troubled by the rising price of petrol and diesel are also buying electric vehicles. The Electric Vehicle Society (SMEV) claims that EV sales in India will cross the one million units mark this year. Many electric cars have been launched in the country so far and 2022 is also expected to be a big year for electric cars. We are doing this because car makers are going to launch many cars this year. 1. Tata Altroz EV
After getting good response to Nexon EV, Tata is about to launch its new electric car Altroz EV. It will be built on the company’s new Agile Light Advanced (ALFA) platform. It was first showcased during the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, which will come with the company’s Ziptron technology. It is expected to get a range between 250 to 300 km.
2. BMW i4 Electric Car
Luxury automaker BMW may launch its second electric car i4 in India in 2022. It recently launched the iX-electric car in the country. The BMW i4 Series is the electric variant of the Gran Coupe and comes with a slightly improved design. It is expected to be equipped with an 83.9 kWh battery pack. It can get a range of more than 450 km.
3. Volvo XC40 Recharge
The Volvo XC40 Recharge was expected to launch in 2021, but was delayed due to semiconductor shortages. It can be launched in June this year. The car is equipped with a 78 kWh battery pack and offers a range of up to 418 km on a single charge.
4. Mini Cooper SE Electric
The Mini Cooper SE has been listed on the company’s website and is expected to launch in the first 6 months of the year. It is expected to come with a 32.6 kWh battery pack with a maximum range of 270 km.
5. Mahindra eKUV100
The Mahindra eKUV100 is similar to the KUV100 in terms of design. It was showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo. The launch of this car was also delayed due to the lack of a global chip. It can be announced in 2022. It will get a 15.9 kWh battery pack. Also, it will get a maximum range of 140 km.
6. Tata Tiago EV
Apart from the Altroz EV, Tata may launch the Tiago EV in India with a price tag of Rs 10 lakh. The car is expected to be launched in the second half of 2022. Its design can be similar to the existing Tata Tiago car.
7. Renault Zoe EV
Renault may launch its first electric car in India, the Zoe as an entry-level one. It was showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo. It is expected to offer a 52 kWh battery pack and a maximum range of 394 km.
8. Tesla Model 3
Tesla Model 3 will be made available with single and dual-motor options. The entry-level Standard Range and Standard Range Plus RWD variants offer 423km range. These variants can do 0-100kmph in just 6 seconds. The Long Range AWD (0-100kmph in 4.5 seconds) and Long Range Performance AWD (0-100kmph in 3 seconds) comes with dual-motor and offers an electric range of around 568km.
9. Mahindra eXUV300
One of the most iconic cars of the company, the Mahindra eXUV300 is expected to launch in the Indian market in 2022 with Electric version . It was first showcased during the 2020 Auto Expo. The Mahindra eXUV300 equipped with 40.0kWh battery pack, which is capable to provide riding range of upto 450 kmrs on a single charge.
10. Renault K-ZE (Kwid)
The Renault K ZE is based on the company’s Kwid hatchback and is expected to be priced higher than the Renault Zoe. The car was showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo and is equipped with a 26.8kWh battery pack, which has a maximum range of 260 km.
