Toyota Motor has finally entered the Indian CNG car segment. The company has started its journey in this segment by launching the CNG version of the Glanza hatchback. The Glanza CNG will only be offered in S and G trims only. The latest hatchback CNG car has been launched at a starting price of Rs 8.43 lakh, ex-showroom. At the same time, the ex-showroom price of the top variant of Glanza G-CNG is Rs 9.46 lakh. The new Toyota Glanza is based on the new generation model of Maruti Suzuki’s premium hatchback Baleno. The Japanese company has also announced to introduce a CNG version of HyRyder. Toyota also opened online bookings for the premium hatchback at a token amount of Rs 11,000. Compared to its equivalent petrol-powered version, the Glanza CNG costs Rs 95,000 more. The Glanza is the first model from Toyota and the second premium hatchback in its class to be equipped with a factory-fitted CNG kit.
The Glanza CNG competes with the recently launched Baleno CNG which starts at Rs 8.28 lakh (ex-showroom- Delhi). It also competes with other premium hatchbacks like Tata Altroz, Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Hyundai i20, which currently do not have a CNG option.

Although the design, exterior and interior of the CNG variant of the Glanza have not been revealed, it is likely that there will be no change from the base variant. In terms of features, the Toyota Glanza CNG comes with wireless smartphone connectivity as well as standard and safety features including a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 360-degree camera, premium sound system, auto fold wing mirrors, leather wrapped steering wheel, cruise control and multiple airbags. Toyota Glanza CNG: Dimensions
Talking about the dimensions of Toyota Glanza CNG, there will be no change in it. That is, its length, width and height will be the same as compared to the existing model. The Glanza CNG measures 3990mm in length, 1745mm in width and 1500mm in height. Its wheelbase is 2520mm. The weight of all the three variants S, G and V of the Glanza CNG will be 1450kgs.
Upto 30.61km/kg CNG Mileage
The company claims that the CNG variant of the Glanza is capable of giving a mileage of 30.61 km/kg and the manual variant of the petrol model 22.35 km/l and the automatic variant 22.94 km/l. However, the company has not given the ideal start-stop function in its CNG variant, which is available in the petrol model. Its engine is mated to a 5-speed transmission gearbox.
Toyota Glanza CNG Engine
There has been no change in the engine mechanism of the new Toyota Glanza CNG. It is powered by the same 1.2-litre K-series engine as before, which churns out 77.5PS of maximum power and 98.5 Nm of torque in CNG mode. While in petrol mode, this engine generates 90PS of power and 113Nm of torque. While the CNG model is offered with only a manual transmission gearbox, the petrol variant gets the option of both manual and automatic transmission.
