Toyota recently unveiled its first all-electric SUV, called the bZ4X. This is the first model in the company’s bZ series which will see a host of new models in the near future. The bZ name stands for ‘Beyond Zero’ which reflects Toyota’s approach to carbon neutrality. The company is planning to bring seven more bZ models in the next four years. Along with this, the company is preparing to launch it in the Chinese market including America, Europe. Electric cars are in high demand in these countries. In such a situation, the company aims to bring an all-electric SUV to these countries. According to the information, Toyota has developed the EV platform for its Toyota bZ4X in collaboration with Subaru Corporation. This platform has been developed with the goal of equipping the electric SUV with off-road performance capabilities. Toyota has informed that it wants to make a battery electric vehicle (BEV) that can be safely and easily driven for many years. The company has claimed that the car will offer a range of up to 500 km with the front-wheel-drive version and about 460 km with the all-wheel-drive version. The front-wheel-drive version gets a single 150 kW motor, while the front-wheel-drive version gets an 80kW motor mounted on each axle.

The new all-electric SUV is powered by a 71.4 kWh battery. Two variants will be offered: the front-driven entry car with a single motor producing 204hp and 265Nm cracks the 0-100kph sprint in 8.4 seconds, while the twin-motor range-topper – which uses four-wheel drive technology developed by Subaru – boosts power to 218hp, torque to 336Nm and cuts the 0-100kph time to 7.7 seconds. The front wheel drive edition sports a 150 kW motor on a single charge. An 80 kW motor is installed in each axle on all-wheel drive. Toyota said the EV comes with high-output chargers worldwide and can be charged up to 80 percent in 30 minutes with a capacity of 150 kW of direct current.
