Hyundai India on Wednesday launched the fourth generation Tucson SUV in the country at a starting price of Rs 27.69 lakh, ex-showroom. The new generation Hyundai Tucson comes with a highly aggressive design and several new advanced features including ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance System). In the Indian market, the 2022 Hyundai Tucson competes with cars like Jeep Compass, Volkswagen Tiguan and Citroen C5 Aircross.
This SUV was first launched in 2020 globally. The fourth generation Tucson emerged as the best-selling Hyundai model across the world in 2021. The SUV has sold over 7 million units since its first launch in 2004. Tucson hasn’t made it to the sales charts in India, but the latest model could change that.

Exterior Design: Changes
The exterior styling updates are one of the biggest and most needed changes. This SUV showcases the sensuous sportiness design philosophy of the vehicle. Key design elements of the car include a new parametric front grille that integrates LED daytime running lights. A similar grille is seen in the new Hyundai Venue. It is expected that it will also be given in the new Creta SUV. The rear gets updated LED taillights that are connected to an LED light strip in the middle.
Other styling elements include vertical LED headlamps, LED taillights with LED light bar, new alloy wheels, squared-off wheel arches, sharp character lines, rear spoiler. Overall, the SUV looks more aggressive than before.
Interior Highlights:
The cabin of the car has also received several updates. It gets a completely new dashboard layout with a simple and clean approach. Just below it is a large touchscreen infotainment system with a touch capacitive automatic climate control. Other features include digital instrument cluster, heated and ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, 360-degree camera, keyless entry and auto-dimming IRVM and electrically adjustable driver seat with memory function and wireless charger.
2022 Hyundai Tucson: Engine Specifications
It gets two engine options. Nu 2.0-litre petrol unit with 6-speed automatic transmission and the new R 2.0-litre VGT diesel engine mated to 8-speed automatic transmission. The petrol engine generates 156 PS of power and 192 Nm of torque. While the diesel engine produces 186 PS of power and 416 Nm of peak torque. The diesel variant gets 4WD lock mode for all-wheel drive. The Tucson comes with three terrain modes – Sand, Mud and Snow.
