The country’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki is rapidly updating its vehicle portfolio in the domestic market. At present, the company is working with Toyota on a new SUV, which will compete directly with the Hyundai Creta once it hits the market. Although no information has been shared about its name yet, but its codename (YGF) is being used in media reports.

Maruti Suzuki has given the codename (YGF) to this upcoming new SUV, which is being developed in collaboration with Toyota. Many advanced features will be included in this SUV, which will help it to compete with the Hyundai Creta in the market.

Maruti-Toyota SUV!

Interestingly, this be the first production model to be designed and developed in partnership with Maruti Suzuki and Suzuki. However, the carmaker has kept quiet about its upcoming SUV. But a recent media report claims that the name of this SUV will be Maruti Suzuki YFG Codename. This new mid-size SUV will be based on Toyota’s TNGA-B or DNGA platform. The SUV will be manufactured at Toyota’s Bidadi based plant. The YFG could be launched during the festive season. The overall length of the mid-size SUV will be around 4.3 meters as the company will position the YFG above its current model S-Cross.

When Will Launch ?

It is expected that Maruti and Maruti Suzuki will show the first glimpse of this car to the world only next month, while its official market launch will be done in August.

Maruti YFG SUV Exterior Design:

Maruti Suzuki will give a different styling to this upcoming mid-size SUV. This will also benefit Maruti a lot because having a different design will make this car an identity of its own. This thing has also been seen in the Skoda Kushak and Volkswagen Tigon built on the same platform. Some glimpses of the model that have been seen during the testing have been seen to be similar to the Suzuki A-Cross SUV available for sale in the international market. Let us tell you that this car is also built on the same platform on which Toyota RAV4 has been built.

The Maruti YFG will see a split headlight design and LED daytime running lamps like the A-Cross SUV. It can be given a mash-pattern grille like the new Baleno, between which Suzuki’s logo will be seen. Talking about its side profile, square shaped wheel arch and diamond cut alloy wheels have been seen here.

YFG SUV Interiors:

Inside of the Car, In terms of features, it will include a 9.0-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system with Suzuki Connect, automatic climate control, cruise control, a semi-digital instrument console, a 360-degree camera system, heads-up display, 6 airbags at the top . The top end variant will also get an adjustable headrest, and perhaps ADAS based technology like adaptive cruise control.

In terms of engines, the upcoming Maruti and Toyota SUV will be powered by a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated K15B mill that churns out 104hp power and 138Nm torque. There are rumors doing the rounds that the engine performance will be further enhanced with hybrid technology for better fuel economy.
