Maruti Suzuki working on Baleno-based SUV car for its upcoming SUV segment named YTB (codename), which will be positioned between the S-Presso and the Vitara Brezza. The new subcompact SUV will be based on the Heartect platform which already used in Baleno and Swift hatchbacks. Apart from, this will direct rival with newly launched Tata Punch as well. Maruti Suzuki already offers the Vitara Brezza in the sub-4m compact SUV market in India. Well, with the new entrants like Kiger and the Magnite, a new low-cost segment is now there. Maruti Suzuki will exploit this price band with an all-new crossover upcoming SUV YTB (codename). The new Maruti Suzuki YTB subcompact SUV is most likely to be powered by a 1.2-litre 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine that powers the Baleno, Swift and the Dzire. This engine could receive a SHVS mild-hybrid system for improved efficiency. Adding to it, the powertrain could be more powerful than the one offered in the Baleno. The new Maruti YTB could be unveiled in 2022.

On the design front, it is to early to describe the design of the car as its not reveal officially yet but we are expecting that the YTB sub-4 meter SUV may bring elements from the Brezza, and its overall style is in line with Maruti’s SUV project.
