Great Wall Motor’s Chinies Carmaker, a Haval sub-brand, H9 the largest SUV of the company’s line-up had made its India debut at Auto Expo 2020. The Haval H9 is one of the models under consideration for the Indian market rivals like Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and Newly launched Mahindra Alturas G4. If confirmed for a launch here, the SUV will only arrive sometime after the brand’s first model for India comes in 2021.
Mahindra and Mahindra launched the highly awaited Alturas in 2018, which is actually a rebadged G4 Ssangyong Rexton. The Mahindra Alturas G4 is the most expensive product in its company’s lineup, with prices starting from Rs 26.95 lakh and going till Rs 29.95 lakh. At this price range, it competes with the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour.
Haval H9 vs Alturas G4 – Design
Exterior:- Typically, SUV-like in its design, the Haval H9 is a big full-size SUV that’s bigger than ladder-frame models like the Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner and the Mahindra Alturas G4, though is slightly smaller than the soon to arrive MG Gloster. Measuring 4,856mm in length, 1,926mm in width, 1,900mm in height and with a 2,800mm wheelbase, there’s expected to be enough space on the inside to seat seven in relative comfort. The Haval H9 looks more premium and luxury profile from the outside through its front cascading grill and side straight lins. Rear Profile also very attractive as well.
Alturas G4 is based on an all-new, body-on-frame chassis that uses a higher percentage of high strength steel, making it more rigid and also lighter than the older Rexton. The only real change between the Alturas and the Rexton is at the front, where in place of a SsangYong grille there’s a Mahindra grille, and the fog lamps have been made a lot sleeker. The sides have some interesting design elements like the bold creases above the wheel arches and a prominent crease running across the doors. From the side, the Alturas looks really tall and dwarfs the large 18-inch wheels which appear a size too small in their chunky wheel wells. Moving to the rear, the Alturas looks quite bulky and the styling is a bit fussy.
Interior:- From the Inside, the Haval H9 is quite well-kitted, which may be a USP if it comes to India. Safety features on the China-spec model include six airbags, front and rear parking sensors, a rear camera, ABS with EBD and traction control, hill ascent and descent control, and an electronic parking brake.
Mahindra has done well from the Inside of the car, most impressed thing is the superb cabin and its genuine luxury feel. Dashboard of the car is very neatly laid out and good use of leather, Piano black and tan black themes. The metallic highlights on the buttons and the overall touch and feel of the materials used is exemplary, almost from a class above.
