WhatsApp has definitely lessened the use of SMS messaging, and has eased the lives of a lot of users. It’s very easy to send unlimited messages, sharing photos, videos, sharing music just in a few taps using Wi-Fi or 3G on your device with WhatsApp. WhatsApp is available for free in the Google Play Store. You can download it and install it on your Android or iOS device and start chatting with your friends and family for hours without any cost. But, in order to proceed with WhatsApp verification, you will need a SIM card in your device as WhatsApp will use your number to activate your profile after verification. Since there is a number of devices available around powered with Android, these devices include various smartphones, tablets, cameras, etc. Android powered tablets are further divided into 3G, LTE and Wi-Fi models. So, you got a hefty list to choose from. A Tablet with 3G support will let you use a SIM card, you will be able to dial calls, send text messages, use viber and other such social chat apps including WhatsApp as well, but a Wi-Fi tablet will not let you use a SIM card, thus, you won’t be able to do any SIM verification related activity.

The sad thing is that the app is only available for iPhone – there isn’t one for the iPad or the iPod touch. But we have a way that can be worked out for enthusiasts who wish to have Watsapp on their iPad!! (but you need an iPhone for that.)

Install WhatsApp on  iPhone in the normal way (it needs to be a fresh install – you may need to delete it and reinstall if you had WhatsApp already), start it up, and then register a phone number – the one you wish to use with WhatsApp on your iPad. You’ll have to confirm these using a code sent to the number you give.

Now unplug the iPad, plug the iPhone into the Mac and go to iFunbox. Click in User Applications under the entry for the iPhone, double-click on the icon for WhatsApp, and then copy the Library and Documents folders in there on to your desktop. This will contain the registration data.

We’re nearly there. Unplug the iPhone, plug the iPad back in, and in iFunbox, click on User Applications under the iPad’s entry, and then WhatsApp – as before. We will now replace the Library and Documents folders in here with the ones on the desktop, thereby copying the iPhone’s registration data on to the iPad.

That’s pretty much it. A few people have found glitches at this point but you should be ok if you’ve followed the steps carefully.
