The British Motorcar company MG has launched Hector Plus in India with expanding its Hector line-up for customers. This is the second car launch in the same year and Third from the company. Before it MG already launched MG ZS EV an electric car in the Auto Expo 2020 in this year. With the launch of the MG Hector Plus, MG now has a 6-seater SUV offering in India and it is priced slightly higher than the 5-seater MG Hector. While MG Motor India’s three-row Hector will rival SUVs like the Mahindra XUV500 and the upcoming Tata Gravitas, the MG Hector Plus will also be pegged as an alternative to the Toyota Innova Crysta. Today in this post we are going to compare two strong and large SUVs, Mahindra’s XUV500 vs MG’s Hector Plus.
MG Hector Plus vs BS6 Mahindra XUV500 – Design
Exterior:- Hector Plus exteriors comes with redesigned front fascia and rear bumpers. MG does this to make the Hector more distinguishable just like any other large SUVs. Speaking of the front, the grille is now finished in piano black and the chrome surrounding is not used anymore. There is new more sleek LED Daytime Running Lamps and headlamps to increase the appeal of the SUV. The front looks more elegant due to the new updates. The side profile comes with roof rails and 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. The rear will get clear lens treatment for the LED tail lamps and the lower half of the bumper gets a new set of reflectors and reversing light.
On the other hand. The Mahindra XUV 500 images provide a clear insight into the changes made to the SUV on the outside. Most of the changes have been made to the front with a relatively larger grille with studded pattern and halogen projector headlamps with integrated horizontal LED daytime running lamps (DRLs). At the back, the vertically stacked tail-lamps have been ditched for the redesigned wraparound triangular units. Most of the elements have been retained at the sides barring the new chrome strip on the door sill.
Interior:- From the Inside, The most obvious difference is the extra row of seating with individual captain seats in the middle row. For now, the Hector Plus is only available in a 6-seat configuration. A 7-seat version, with bench-style seats in the middle row, is expected to be added to the line-up later. MG’s also provided other changes on the inside to help tell the two SUVs apart such as the tan brown leatherette upholstery, compared to the Hector’s all-black colour scheme.
Another side, Mahindra has quite premium then any SUV by the all-new tan-coloured seats with quilted stitching look plush and match well with the black finished dashboard. It additionally gets new soft touch elements visible on the dashboard and brushed aluminium inserts on the centre console, steering wheel and gear knob. The Mahindra XUV500 2018 is a far cry from the model it precedes with prominent changes made to the exterior and interiors.
