Volkswagen Taigun Launched

Great Wall Motor made a strong impact at the 2020 Auto Expo this year by revealed its range of SUVs and electric vehicles under its Haval and GWM EV brands respectively. One of the main attractions at its pavilion was the F5 SUV, which has all the bells and whistles to compete against Jeep Compass, Hyundai Tucson and the upcoming Volkswagen Taigun. GWM is the largest producer of SUVs in China and it will be investing more than Rs. 7,000 crore in phased manner for its local operations and has already taken over the Talegaon facility with two lakh capacity.

On the other hand, Volkswagen has launched its long-awaited SUV car in India recently. The company unveiled its extensive SUV line-up at Auto Expo 2020. This SUV car comprised of the Volkswagen Taigun, T-Roc, and Tiguan Allspace. While Volkswagen has already launched T-Roc and Tiguan Allspace in India. The all-new Volkswagen Taigun based on the heavily localized MQB AO IN platform, which will also underpin the Skoda Vision IN based SUV, new Vento and the new Rapid. 

Haval F5 vs Volkswagen Taigun – Design

Exterior:- Visually, The Haval F5 SUV comes with a massive grille with glossy black treatment, flanked by a set of LED headlamps with LED DRLs. The muscular front bumper appears to feature another set of DRLs along with air intakes and rugged underbody cladding with a faux diffuser. The SUV runs on a set of styling alloy wheels, while the roofline gets a coupe-like design, while the rear features a sculpted design with wraparound taillamps and an aggressive rear bumper with more cladding and dual exhaust pipes.

Another side, The new Taigun has a dominant front making it look bolder, muscular in turn giving it a sporty SUV stance. Visually, the Volkswagen Taigun is in line with the carmakers latest design language, with sharp edges and bold character lines generous use of chrome, especially on the top-spec GT variant. It also comes with premium elements like LED headlights, LED daytime running lamps, 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, conjoined LED taillight with sporty black elements, and beefy cladding with chrome inserts, and faux skid plates, giving it a very upmarket appeal.

Interior:- Inside the cabin, The Haval F5 sports a premium five-seater cabin with leather upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, automatic climate control, and a multifunctional steering wheel with cruise control. As for infotainment and technology, the car houses a fully-digital instrument cluster and a 9-inch touchscreen panel with support for connectivity features. The centre console is partially new and includes various new touch-operated controls in place of physical controls for a cleaner design.

On the another side, the 2021 Volkswagen Taigun receive features such as a dual-tone interior theme, a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an eight-inch fully-digital instrument cluster, a three-spoke steering wheel, ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, a cooled glove-box, and wireless charging. In terms of safety features, the model is equipped with six airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, seat-belt reminder, TPMS, hill-hold control, and multi-collision brakes.
