MG Motor has launched Astor SUV car in recently in the market. As we reported earlier in the our posts. Today we are going to compare newly launched MG Astor SUV with one of quite popular SUV Hyundai Creta. However, Creta has no need for any introduction but we have a detailed comparison between these two SUVs in this post right from Engine to Exterior, Features and Price. The company launched the SUV on very perfect time as the festive season almost starts in India, from Navratri, Dussera, Dhanteras and Diwali all these festive comes together every year. Now MG motors wants to grab this opportunity with both hands. However, the Hyundai Creta is also one of highest selling SUV in the category of sub compact SUV segment. But MG Astor may give tough competition to Creta with its segment first features. On the other hand, the Creta is the highest selling SUV car ever in the market after Maruti Vitara Brezza. This will be very interesting to see, how MG Astor dominate the India’s most competitive segment after launch. There is already so many SUVs availaible in this segment such as Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport and Mahindra XUV300, Toyota Urban Cruiser, Renault Kiger etc. Let’s take a look at all similarities and differences of the Creta and 2021 MG Astor.
Hyundai Creta Vs MG Astor – Engine Specifications.
Hyundai Creta comes with both petrol and diesel engine options as Petrol engine powered by a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated producing 112bhp/144Nm with a CVT or a six-speed manual. Another one is 1.4-litre turbo Gdi petrol engine producing 138bhp/242Nm and is only being offered with a seven-speed DCT. Apart from, Diesel engine powered by a 1.5-litre four-cylinder unit producing 113bhp/250Nm and can be had with a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic.
On the other hand, the MG Astor comes with two petrol engines only: one with 1.5-litre petrol naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine which produce 108 bhp maximum power and 144 Nm of maximum torque with 5-speed Manual or CVT Automatic gearbox option. Second one powered by a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine which capable to produce of 138 bhp maximum power & 220 Nm of torque. The later one gets the only 6-speed torque-converter Automatic transmission.

Exterior
Visually, The Hyundai Creta brings freshness and different styling in the crowded sub-4 meter SUV category. Undoubtedly, the Creta is one of the most amazingly designed compact SUVs available in the segment. The Creta is based on the Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design philosophy. Both the front pillars are blackened and designed optimally at right slant angle, making it air-flow resistant and get increased fuel efficiency. The plastic cladding in the lower half gives it that rugged SUV look.
The side profile looks dynamic with the shoulder line running high across till the tail-lamps. At the rear, it gets a wide tail gate and split combination tail lamps.
As for the Astor, it gets a most of the design elements from the electric ZS EV in the various form. however, the brand will give it some subtle changes to help it differentiate from the ZS EV. Astor gets a redesigned front with slimmer full-LED headlamps, a new hexagonal grille and chunkier bumpers. The rear also gets sharper LED tail lamps, a prominent faux skid plate and new bumpers. The car also gets a new 17-inch alloy wheels.
Interior
The cabin of Hyundai’ vehicles have always been a hot topic when compared with their competitors. Hyundai packs its offerings with a bag full of features and the Creta is no different. Surprisingly, the interiors are well designed and simple to use. The new Creta offers a flat bottom, leather wrapped steering wheel with mounted controls. The 2020 Hyundai Creta also equipped with more bigger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system supporting latest smartphone connectivity. You can also notice a 7.0-inch TFT instrument cluster display with fully digital. Apart from, Creta has 8-speaker Bose audio system. A 360 degreen camera buttons are integrated in the centre console. The automatic variants get a premium looking gear knob.
As for the MG Astor interiors is concerned, the cabin features a five-seat configuration and packs in a host of features in tandem with other models in the segment. Inside of the car Inside, one can find a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, 6-way electrically adjustable driver seat, panoramic sunroof, and electronic parking brake. Beside this, the Astor is available in three interior colour schemes – dual tone Sangria Red, dual tone Iconic Ivory and Tuxedo Black.
