Maruti Suzuki on Monday launched CNG variants of Baleno and XL6 models. Both the cars are now the first CNG models to be available from the Nexa range. However, the company has been providing CNG kits for more than 20 years. The demand for CNG models is still increasing due to rising prices of petrol and diesel, on the other hand, higher cost of electric vehicles and low charging infrastructure. Somehow, this could be the reason behind Maruti Suzuki launching CNG versions of popular models like Baleno and XL6.

Maruti Suzuki recently completely discontinued the diesel engine, since then the company is now moving towards another option – CNG, apart from petrol. While Maruti has been offering CNG technology in some of its models for quite some time now, Baleno and XL6 are the products of the company’s Nexa lineup, in which CNG option is being offered for the first time. Now, the number of CNG models in the company’s portfolio has gone up to 12.

Both the Baleno S-CNG and XL6 S-CNG variants can be availed through the Maruti Suzuki Subscribe program for a monthly subscription fee of Rs 18,403 and Rs 30,821 respectively.

Talking about the price, the XL6 S-CNG has been launched only in the Zeta variant, which is priced at Rs 12.24 lakh (ex-showroom).

Exterior Design:

The look and design of the Maruti Suzuki XL6 CNG, Some notable changes have been made in the design and styling of the new Maruti Suzuki XL6 CNG. The car gets a redesigned grille, front, rear bumpers and 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. The car is available in 6 color options which include Arctic White, Grandeur Grey, Opulent Red, Brave Khaki, Splendid Silver and Celestial Blue. However, the dual-tone paint schemes are available only on the top-end Alpha Plus variant.

Maruti Suzuki XL6 CNG Interior:

Talking about the interior of the car, it will get an updated cabin. The XL6 CNG gets features like 360-degree parking camera, ventilated front seats, tire pressure monitoring system, safety equipment like standard 4 airbags, Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and hill-hold assist. The integrated Suzuki Connect system present in it helps in pre-cooling the car. The new Maruti Suzuki XL6 CNG gets a new SmartPlay Pro infotainment system.

Maruti Suzuki XL6 CNG Engine:

The Maruti Suzuki XL6 is powered by a 1.5-litre K series petrol engine. The XL6 S-CNG produces 87.83 PS of power at 5,500 rpm and 121.5 Nm of torque at 4,200 rpm. It comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. This is the same powertrain that powers the recently launched Ertiga. The company says that the new XL6 gives a mileage of 26.32 kmpl with manual gearbox.
