MG Motor India has introduced four new variants of the Astor SUV. The carmaker has launched new variants with a 1.5-litre petrol manual powertrain, almost nine months after the launch of the MG Astor SUV in India in October last year. The new variants are available in four trims and are slightly more affordable than the already available variants. The ex-showroom price of the new variants is between Rs 10.22 lakh and Rs 14.46 lakh. However, to keep the price low, MG Motor has made some compromises in terms of features in these new variants.
Removed Features
MG Motor has decided to cut corners to make these Aster variants a little more affordable amid the ongoing semi-conductor crisis. These variants do not come with some features like 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, traction control, electronic stability control or ESC, hill hold and hill descent control. Some of the new variants also don’t get AI safety features, including blind spot detection, lane change assist and rear cross traffic alert.
MG Astor Engine:
The Astor SUV gets two engine options. It is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine that produces 110PS of power and 144Nm of torque. There is also a more powerful 1.3-litre turbo petrol that churns out 140 PS of power and 220 Nm of torque. MG Astor competes with some popular SUVs like Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Tata Harrier.
