Land Rover has launched the Range Rover Velar in India with prices starting from Rs. 78.83 lakhs to Rs 1.37 crore (ex-showroom, India).
Road-focused Land Rover Velar; available with two diesel and one petrol engine and 25 variants.
The fourth member of the Range Rover family was unveiled earlier this year and is slotted between the Range Rover Evoque and Range Rover Sport. Bookings for the luxury SUV have commenced with deliveries planned from the end of January 2018.
Design & Features
Sitting between the Evoque and the Range Rover Sport in Land Rover’s India range, the Velar is a strict five-seater. The cabin comes kitted with a Touch Pro Duo infotainment system that uses two 10-inch touch-screens. The screens help to reduce the switchgear to an absolute minimum, while the lower part of the centre console, in front of the gear and Terrain Response selectors, has been turned into a screen as well.
Exterior
The 2018 Range Rover Velar is the most aerodynamic model(0.32 cd) in the company’s entire line-up. It is undoubtedly the most appealing as well. LED lights with laser high beam enabled the company to shrink the overall size of the headlight assembly adding to the front facia appeal. The top line trim exclusively comes with 22-inch tyres further adding to the commanding posture of the Velar. The length, width, height and wheelbase of the Velar extends to 4,803 mm, 2,032 mm, 1,665 mm and 2,874 mm respectively.
Interior
2018 Range Rover Velar major Interior highlights is the new Touch Pro Duo infotainment system which features Two 10-inch customizable touch-screens. The infotainment system features controls for functions like Wifi hotspot, eight surround view cameras, media interface and navigation. The tachometer gets digital treatment too with a large 12.5-inch screen along with two 5-inch TFT screens in the centre.

Engine
The Range Rover Velar comes in three powertrain options – 2.0-litre petrol and diesel and a 3.0-litre diesel engine. The 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine churns out 177 HP of power and 430 Nm of torque while the 3.0-litre V6 oil burner puts out 296 HP of power and 700 Nm of torque. The 2.0-litre petrol engine produces 247 HP of power and 365 Nm of torque. The vehicle is available in the R-Dynamic and even the First Edition variants while all three power-trains are available in the S, SE and HSE trims. All the engines are mated to the company’s 8-speed automatic gearbox.
