Running vs Gym : Which is Better for Weight Loss?

When you finally realize that now you need to lose weight now. The questions that creep in your mind is which method to choose from joining a gym or start running? Which will give you faster results? Which is best for you?

To lose weight you cannot only depend on only exercise routine you have to eat healthy food and be on a calorie deficit. To lose weight you need to burn a greater amount of calories than you take in. A calorie deficit can be attained by two things eating fewer calories from previous days and burning more calories through exercise or running throughout the day.

So the goal is to go on a calorie deficit which will eventually help you to lose weight. Now the question arises which method to choose running or going to a gym. There are always different opinions some say running is better for weight loss and someday you should do strength training.

Yes it’s right you burn more calories while running then strength training but the calories burning stops in the case of running after the session while lifting weight increases your rest metabolism rate which means you would be burning calories throughout the while you are resting.

This happens because by lifting weight you develop muscles. Your body burns more calories when they have more muscles than fat while resting in a day.

A person with high more muscles will burn more calories during the day than a person who has a high-fat percentage. You do not develop muscles through running.

In a study conducted Individuals who do strength training for 6 months there rest metabolism increases by 9 percentage and they started burning 150 calories in a day. in case of men and 5 % in the case of women and they started burning 50 calories a day.

You can run anywhere and any time of the day- to start your session you don’t have to find a place or choose a time. You can do it any time of the day whenever you have time for gyming you have to commute, you can only train at a specific time.

By running you can fulfill your daily requirement of vitamin D. Jo can join running clubs where you can make friends who keep you motivated while running but in the case of the gym, you have to exercise alone. It’s cheaper you just need a good pair of shoes.

But if you had to pick one then weight training is better for starters as you burn more calories through out the day.
