Keto Diet

The most trending diet of last year was keto diet everyone was following it. This year to it will be trending. What is keto diet ?

Keto diet in a simpler term is that you are limiting carbohydrates consumption from your diet and increasing healthy fat consumption and protein. Our body burns carbohydrates for energy but when we will limit carbs from our meals body will start burning fat from the body for energy this state is known as ketosis. The primary objective of keto diet is to loose weight.

Here are some of the pros and cons of keto diet

  • Pros:

It helps you to loose weight fast it works wonders on obese people who have high body fat as when limiting carbs from there diet body uses fat for energy which means they will lose body fat more quickly

it may improve cognitive functioning the high fat content in the diet helps reduce inflammation that triggers nerve pain in the brain, and research shows that overweight patients feel lower migraines.

It may help in slowing down some cancers according to some studies

  • Cons:

Its true that it helps you to loose weight which is good for people whose sole target is to loose weight but for athletes who need carbs for energy and explosiveness to increase strength keto is no good.

It may promote disorder in your body when you are limiting nutrients from carbs tht are nessasry for long term functioning of the body its not a healthy way of living.

The Dukan Diet

The diet is named after french dietitian peirre dukan. Its is a protein rich diet approach which is divided into for phases.

  • Attack Phase:

Attack phase which last for 7 to 10 days in which you have can cosume unlimited quantity of lean protein and vegetables. The target of attack phase is to loose weight fast as you are consuming protien which takes more energy to burn and you will mostly feel full for the whole day.

It includes 100 foods, of which 72 are sourced from animals and 28 come from plants. The person can eat as much as they like, as long as they only eat those 100 foods.

  • Cruise Phase:

The next phase is cruise phase which can last from 1 month to 6 months according to your goal . The main aim in this phase is to loose one kg per week. Its is done by adding 32 given vegetables into your diet with your unlimited consumption of lean protein. It works like you follow the diet you have followed in the attack phase for one day and for the alternate day you add unlimited quantity of vegetables with lean proteins.

  • Consolidation Phase:

In this phase the target is not to loose weight but to stop from regaining it. It can last from 6 to 12 months. In this phase dieters can eat food items from attack phase and cruise phase along with one bowl of fruit per day 2 bread slices, cheese and once a week you can have a celebration meal.This phase involves 25 minutes of exercise a day.

  • Stabilization Phase:

It is all about maintaining the improvements achieved during the earlier phases. In this phase no food is off limit you can eat what ever you want but follow these principles always eat one meal of lean protein in a day use food items in the consolidation phase try to workout for 30 mins daily. In this phase donot expect to loose weight or gain it.

The Flexitarian Diet

It is the diet which is named after two words flexible and vegetarian. This diet encourages plant based foods along with moderate consumption of meat and other animal products. This diet can be implemented in lifestyle for a longer period then other diets. It is more flexible from your vegetarian and vegan diet. Vegetarians eliminate meat and sometimes other animal foods, while vegans completely restrict meat, fish, eggs, dairy and all animal-derived food products.

It is easy to implement flexitarian diet in you lifestyle by following these guidelines.

Eat mostly vegetables,legumes, fruits and whole grains.

Try to eliminate processed food limit your consumption of sugar and salt.

Add moderate amount of animal based foods.

While following this diet you are not bound to eliminate any food items you like. This diet will help yo to loose weight as you have eliminated extra sugar and high calorie processed food items. This diet like others diet may not give you immediate results but it will inculcate healthy lifestyle as some studies show it lowers the chances of cancer and type 2 diabetes.
