Volvo Cars India has launched its electric SUV ‘XC40 Recharge’ in the Indian market. The ex-showroom price of Volvo XC40 Recharge has been kept at Rs 55.9 lakh. It is worth noting here that the Volvo XC40 Recharge is completely assembled in India and is the first locally assembled luxury electric car in India. Speaking on its launch, Jyoti Malhotra, Managing Director, Volvo Car India said on Tuesday, “The XC40 Recharge is assembled at its Bangalore factory (Volvo’s). This reflects our commitment to India and its consumers.”

Booking Open

Volvo will sell the XC40 recharge online only through its digital platform. Booking will start from 11 am on Wednesday, July 27. The car can be booked after paying Rs 50,000/- by visiting the company’s website. The company says that the delivery of Volvo XC40 Recharge will start from October this year. Volvo will also offer a three-year package on warranty, service and roadside assistance. The XC40 recharge battery will come with an 8-year warranty and a wallbox charger of 11kW capacity.

Range Upto 418 kmrs:

This Electric Car claims to cover a distance of 418 km on a single full charge. However, the certified range of an electric SUV is around 335 kmrs, which is more likely to be the real-world range.

Volvo XC40 Recharge Electric SUV – Engine Specification:

The Volvo XC40 Recharge comes with an all-wheel drive set-up. It gets two 204hp electric motors. Which combined generates 408hp power and 660Nm torque. This electric SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 4.9 seconds and has a top speed of 180 kmph.

It gets an under floor battery pack of 78kWh. With this help, as per the European WLTP test cycle, the electric XC40 is claimed to cover a range of 418 km on a full charge. The battery can be charged from 11kW AC or 150kW DC. The DC charger can charge the battery from 0 to 80 percent in just 40 minutes.

Exterior:- In terms of styling, the XC40 Recharge looks similar to the regular XC40. Save for a few changes like the closed front section, “Recharge” badging and of course, because it is an EV, the charging port replaces the fuel filler.  It gets a dual-tone exterior and blanked-out grille with Recharge badging and a closed grille.

Interior:- Inside, the Volvo XC40 Recharge gets a new infotainment system powered by Google’s Android operating system, which features Volvo On Call connected-car tech, while also being capable of over-the-air updates.
