After a long wait, Maruti Suzuki has finally launched the Alto K10 in the Indian market. The new Alto K10 has been launched in the market at a starting price of Rs 3.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The top trim, on the other hand, costs up to Rs 5,83,500 (ex-showroom). The new Alto K10 has been introduced in a new engine and better design than the old Alto. Alto K10 vs Alto 800 – Design:
The new Maruti Alto K10 has been introduced in a completely new design. Its design has been improved and it now looks bigger and more stylish than the Alto 800. The design of the Alto K10 is inspired by the new Celerio, due to which some of its design elements are similar to the Celerio. The Alto K10 gets a bigger honeycomb grille than before. Apart from this, it has been given a new design headlight and tail light. However, the new Alto K10 also gets the same 13-inch steel wheels that come with the cover.
Alto K10 vs Alto 800 – Engine Specifications:
The new Alto K10 hatchback is offered with a 1.0-litre, K10C DualJet petrol engine that churns out 67 Bhp of power and 89 Nm of torque. The company has offered the Alto K10 in 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT gearbox options.
The older model, the Alto 800 comes with a 0.8-litre petrol engine that churns out 47 Bhp of power and 69 Nm of torque. However, the Alto 800 only comes with a manual transmission. It is worth noting that both the variants of Alto are being sold with BS6 engine.

The new Alto K10 is wider and longer than before. In terms of dimensions, the Alto 800 measures 3445 mm, 1490 mm and 1520 mm in length, width and height respectively. While the new Alto K10 measures 3530 mm in length, 1490 mm in width and 1520 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2380 mm.

Alto K10 vs Alto 800 – Features:
In terms of features, the new Alto K10 is completely different from the current model. The cabin gets gray colored seats with beige accents. Alto K10 has been introduced with a 7-inch SmartPlay Studio touchscreen infotainment system. Apart from this, it also gets digital speedometer display, front power window switch on the instrument panel, remote keyless entry and steering mounted audio and voice controls. However, the biggest updates to the features include smartphone connectivity with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and other SmartPlay Studio apps with smartphone navigation.
Touchscreen, navigation and smartphone connectivity applications are missing in the Alto 800. It also does not support Maruti’s Smartplay Studio app.
Alto K10 vs Alto 800 – Safety Features:
Talking about the safety features of the new Alto K10, it will get two front airbags for safety, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD), Pre-tensioner and Force Limiter Front Seat Belts, Reverse Parking Sensor. And features like speed sensing auto door lock and high speed alert system have been given. Alto K10 gets two airbags as standard across all variants.
Coming to the Alto 800, it gets only a driver airbag as standard. Airbags are optional on the Std and LXi variants of the Alto 800, while two airbags are offered as standard only on the top variant VXi.
