Maruti Suzuki has recently launched the new generation Alto K10 in the Indian market. This is a slightly premium and stylish version of the company’s entry-level hatchback Alto 800, in which a more powerful engine has been given. Till now, the Renault Kwid car was present in the market as a slightly premium car from the Alto 800 and it can be said that the S Presso was playing the same role in Maruti’s lineup.
But now both these cars are going to get tough competition from the new Maruti Alto K10. Here we have compared the new Alto K10 with KWID and S Presso in terms of dimensions, engine specifications, fuel efficiency and price. So let’s see on paper how the three cars compete with each other.

Alto K10 vs S-Presso vs Kwid – Engine Specifications:
Talking about the powertrain configuration, all three cars will be offered with a 1.0-litre, naturally aspirated, 3-cylinder petrol engine with the option of 5-speed manual and 5-speed automatic gearboxes. K10C petrol engine has been given in Alto K10 and S Presso.
The power and torque figures of the Alto K10 and S Presso are similar but the Kwid is a car with 1 Bhp and 2 Nm more torque output than these.
Let us also tell one thing that the Renault Kwid has a 54 bhp powerful 800 cc petrol engine. On the other hand, Maruti is offering an 800 cc petrol engine in its Alto 800, which will be available for sale with the Alto K10.

Alto K10 vs S-Presso vs Kwid – Dimensions:
Alto K10 is the smallest of the three in terms of length and width. It is 35mm shorter than the S-Presso while it is 201mm shorter than the Renault Kwid. On the width front too, the new Alto K10 is 30mm and 89mm less wide when compared to the S-Presso and Kwid respectively. However, the Alto K10 is 46mm taller than the Renault Kwid and 29mm lower than the S-Presso.
In terms of wheelbase size, the Alto K10 and S Presso have a wheelbase of 2380 mm, which is 42 mm less than the Kwid. The wheel size of the Alto K10 here is 13 inches while the wheel size of the S Presso and Kwid is 14 inches.

Coming to the ARAI certified fuel efficiency, both these Maruti models are capable of giving the highest mileage return as compared to the Renault Kwid. Maruti’s own K10 engine features dual jet technology and idle start/stop system. However, the S Presso is a more fuel efficient car than the new K10.

Here the new Alto is quite an affordable hatchback car. Its starting price is less than both these cars. Also, the price of its top manual and automatic models is also much lower than both these cars. The top manual and automatic variants of the Ace Presso are priced between Rs 15,000 to Rs 25,000 more than the new K10. The Kwid is the most expensive of the three cars, with the top petrol AMT model priced at par with the S-Presso.
