E-commerce platform Amazon’s Zoox has claimed to be the first self-driving car ‘robotaxis’ to run on a public road. The company said in a statement that last week it put on the road an electric vehicle that does not have a steering wheel.

For the information of the people, let us tell you that now the company is providing shuttle service for the employees on this route. Along with this, the company is also pursuing for additional approvals so that this service can be extended for publication as well.

The company said that for the first time such a car has been seen on the road which does not require anyone to drive, this Robotaxi has been seen running on the road carrying passengers without human control. Zoox’s driverless testing permit was taken in September 2020, the company has extended it to California to serve the purpose of robotaxi.

Once fully charged, it can be used for 16 hours. The top speed of the car is 75 mph (120 kmph). However, on city routes, it will operate at a top speed of 35 mph (56 Kmph). The company plans to provide its service through the app. It will be launched in the cities of San Francisco (also in California) and Las Vegas (Nevada).

This robotaxi comes without steering wheel and pedals and can seat 4 passengers. This car can hold a top speed of up to 55 kmph. Zoox introduced the robotaxi in late 2020. The company said that the Zoox has been designed for city roads, but it can perform well on the highway as well.
