Jeep India, on Thursday officially launched its much-awaited three-row SUV Meridian in the country. The starting ex-showroom price of Jeep Meridian SUV has been kept at Rs 29.90 lakh for the base variant with manual transmission. The top-of-the-line variant with automatic transmission has been priced at Rs 36.95 lakh, ex-showroom. Jeep India believes that at this competitive price point, this SUV will give tough competition to its rivals. You can book the new Meridian SUV at a price of Rs.50,000. The company will start deliveries of this vehicle around the third week of June next month. The company has started production of the SUV at its Ranjangaon factory.

The 7-seater SUV segment is becoming quite popular in the Indian market. From budget to luxury cars in this segment. Jeep Meridian is ready to take on the Toyota Fortuner in this segment for the luxury lifestyle enthusiast ?

Exterior Design:

In terms of look and design, the Jeep Meridian SUV bears the signature design language of the carmaker. Along with this, the imprint of the Jeep Compass and Grand Cherokee SUV is also visible in it. Up front, the Meridian gets bi-function LED headlamps, an attractive bumper with integrated LED daytime running lights, iconic seven-slat grille with LED fog lamps.

Coming to the side profile, the SUV gets body cladding, integrated roof rails on either side of the panoramic sunroof. It gets bigger rear overhand and bigger rear doors than the Jeep Compass. At the rear, the SUV gets horizontal LED taillights, rear wiper and washer and integrated rear spoiler. This SUV gets 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels.

Interiors:

The cabin of this SUV itself is as premium as one can expect from a Jeep. Many great features have been given in this 3-row SUV. Jeep Meridian Wireless comes with features like 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Along with this, features like electrically adjustable front seats, 10.25-inch digital instrument console, wireless phone charging, dual-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, powered tailgate and 9-speaker alpine source audio system are included.

Safety Features:

The Jeep Meridian has three-row seating. However there is limited space in the last row. Talking about the safety features, Jeep Meridian offers more than 60 safety and security features. The new Jeep Meridian gets 6 airbags, traction control, electronic stability control (ESC), hill start and descent control, 360-degree camera and other safety features.

Drive Mode and Speed

Meridian will be offered with three drive modes – Snow, Sand/Mud and Auto. This SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 10.8 seconds and has a top speed of 198 kmph.

What is the size ?

Talking about the size of Jeep’s new SUV Meridian, it measures 4,769 mm in length, 1,858 mm in width and 1,698 mm in length, and has a wheelbase of 2,794 mm. The wheelbase has been increased by 158 mm to lengthen the body of the SUV. The Jeep Meridian 3-row SUV is based on the small wide 4×4 platform used in the Jeep Compass SUV. It has been modified to make it a long wheelbase SUV on this platform. The Meridian looks more premium than the Fortuner. But the presence of the Toyota Fortuner on the road is much more powerful than that of the Jeep.

Jeep Meridian Engine Details:

The Jeep Meridian gets a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine, which is also offered in the Compass SUV. This engine generates maximum power of 170 bhp and torque of 350 Nm. A 6-speed manual gearbox is standard with this engine. This SUV will get both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive system. Front-wheel-drive (FWD) and all-wheel-drive (AWD) systems are mated to a 9-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. No petrol engine option is available with the SUV.
