MG Motor is going to launch a small and affordable electric car very soon for the Indian market. The electric car is said to be based on the design of the Air EV from Chinese carmaker Wuling, a subsidiary of MG. Wuling is selling its small electric cars in several countries in Southeast Asia, including the Chinese market. Recently this car has been introduced in Indonesia, which is being called E230 in the code word.
Last year, MG announced the launch of its new electric car in January 2023. However, this car is still in its testing stage due to which it may take some more time to launch. MG’s new electric car is expected to be launched in the second half of this year.

According to the report, this model can be launched in India with some minor changes in the design. The E230 is the latest model to be built on the company’s Global Small Electric Vehicles (GSEV) platform. Models made on this design platform are already being sold. The company will modify and customize the E230 for Indian conditions. In particular, its battery thermal management system will be strengthened. Also, the Air EV in India will be given a new name with the MG brand logo.

MG Wuling Air EV: Battery & Range
It is being claimed that this new MG electric car can be brought with two battery packs, which will include 17.3 kWh and 26.7 kWh battery pack models. On a full charge, the smaller battery pack model will have a range of 200 km, while the larger battery pack model will have a range of 300 km. The electric motor will be mounted on the rear axle in both the models and both the cars will be capable of generating 41 Bhp power.

MG Wuling Air EV Design:
Exterior
The Air EV is a box-shaped electric car that looks like the Hongguang Mini EV. Up front, there is a light bar across the width of the car via a chrome strip that matches the door mounted wing mirrors. The charging port door is given below this light bar. Where the logo of MG will be seen. Square-shaped headlamps are given above its angular-style front bumper. The doors of the Air EV are also quite high, which makes it easy to enter and exit the second row. It got wheels with 12-inch steel rims. MG is making this car especially for city and short distance rides. It will be easy to drive this car in congested areas and traffic of cities. Being small in size, it will require very less space for parking.

Inside, This car will be positioned in India as an urban driving one. To attract young customers, it can be given a large touchscreen, digital instrument cluster and connectivity features.
