Switch EiV22 Electric Bus: Range
The bus can achieve a range of 100 km on a single charge of 45 minutes. While it takes 80 minutes to get fully charged. The company has already received an order of 200 units of this EV bus from BEST, Mumbai. A few notable features of the Switch EiV 22 include wide front and rear doors, two staircases, seating for 65 passengers, and USB charging for each passenger below the seat.
Double Decker Electric Bus – Battery Specifications
Some single decker electric buses are running in many parts of the country. The Switch EiV22 is the first double decker. It has a 231kWh battery and the manufacturer of this bus has claimed that this bus will give a range of up to 250km. However, as per reports, the real world range of the bus will be 180 kms. The double decker has wide front and rear doors, two stairs, and an emergency door. It will have seating arrangement for 65 passengers. Each seat is lightly cushioned and the interior comes with car-like comfort for passenger comfort.

Switch Mobility Ltd (‘Switch’) Electric Bus – Design
Switch EiV 22 is equipped with the latest technology, ultra-modern design, highest safety and best-in-class comfort features. The renewed iconic double decker bus is designed to revolutionize public transportation in the country and will set new standards in the intra-city bus market.
The Switch EiV 22 electric double-decker bus will be manufactured at the company’s Ennore plant in Tamil Nadu. Mumbai’s BEST has ordered 200 units that will operate between the Kurla and Colaba depots.
Switch Mobility Electric Bus – Features
Nickel, Manganese and Cobalt (NMC) batteries have been used in the bus, which comes with a warranty of eight years. To ensure battery safety, it gets functions like remote intervention, wherein Switch Mobility monitors the battery temperature and informs the driver if any abnormality is detected. Like fire detection etc. It uses inert gases to extinguish the fire.
Seating Capacity:-
Talking about the seating and other details in India’s first electric double decker bus, there are two entry/exit points in the bus. The bus can seat 65 people and has a longer rear overhang as compared to diesel-run buses. It has a lightweight aluminum body which helps it save weight and extract more range. Like most electric buses, the Swatch EiV22 double decker bus also has a fully air-conditioned cabin.
