Toyota has finally unveiled its new mid-size SUV, the Urban Cruiser Hyryder, for the Indian market. This is Toyota’s first mid-size SUV in India. Toyota has not revealed the prices of the Hyryder SUV but they have officially started booking the all-new Hyryder. Customers can book by visiting the nearest dealership or online. Toyota Hyryder Engine & Transmission
Toyota is offering the Urban Cruise Rider with two petrol engine options. There is a stronger hybrid version and a mild hybrid engine. This is the first Toyota model in India to get a robust hybrid system. The stronger hybrid version of the Hyrider uses the 1.5-litre TNGA Atkinson cycle engine. Which generates torque of 92 PS and 122 Nm. This engine is coupled with an electric motor. Which generates power of 79 PS and torque of 141 Nm. The engine coupled with the electric motor generates a combined power of 115 PS. The Toyota Hyryder has claimed a range of 25 kms in electric mode only. This engine is mated to Toyota’s e-drive transmission. The Hyryder will also get an AWD variant with a drive mode.
The next engine offered with the Hyryder is the Neo Drive engine which is basically the 1.5 liter K15C engine from Maruti Suzuki. This engine comes with Smart Hybrid System. The engine generates 103 PS and 137 Nm of torque. It will be offered with 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission options.
Toyota Hyryder Variants & Safety features
Toyota is offering the rider in E, S, G and V variants. Most of the features given here will be offered only with the top end variants. In terms of safety, Toyota is offering the Urban Cruiser rider with features like TPMS, six airbags, hill-hold assist, hill descent control, all-wheel disc brakes, etc. The price has not yet been disclosed by the company.
